Still considering if I should just buy a Dodge Charger or keep my 04 MM and have a SC installed?
Does anyone have first hand information on if the Charger owners are happy with their cars?

I drove one for 6 weeks while my marauder is in the shop, and it was traumatic (sp)... granted my car is seriously moded however it was mostly the electronics that sucked. The radio signal is worse than the MM some how, it doesn't play cds sometimes, the lights tend to do what they want when on auto, and alot of other little gremlin type things. The interior is terrible, you have 4 or 5 blind spots. oh and the trans is worse than ours stock. To really care to drive one every day ever again, it would require some mods. That's my experience, and that was within 6 weeks, the car had only 2K miles when I got it, gave it back with 7K... lots of road trips

Keep the MM......
You can add a bit of HP to the basic Charger and eliminate the "Torque Management" shifting system and start breaking stuff??:argue: The trans and rear are not that strong.....I think they are from Daimler side???
IMHO the Marauder is much more unique and capable of way more performance with the S/C!!
Also, I don't like the way they look!!:shake:

Keep the MM and get the S/C!
I did a ride and drive where we test drove some BMW, Lexus and Cadillac cars. Yes, some of the creature comforts were nicer, but ride quality, throttle response, power and handling were much less than my S/C Marauder. Sticker on the other cars were $50,000+
See if you can get a ride in a S/C car it is like a night and day difference.

Thanks, thats exactly the information I was looking for. I heard something about electrical problems but didn't take it seriously. Guess I will stay with what I have and just put in a SC (now, which one)

In lots of intangible ways, I find our 2003 Marauder with 42k on it to be very comparable to our 1999 BMW 528 wagon with 135k on it. I test drove a new Magnum Hemi R/T thinking it could be a potential replacement for our wagon.
The Magnum wasn't it. I didn't find the Hemi to be amazing... maybe the one I drove was still stiff. Even with the R/T stuff it really listed over in the twisties. I was looking for the brake where I'd have been accelerating in either the MM or our wagon.
If your fickle, buy the Charger. It'll be brand new for a few years and they aren't bad. If you know what you like though, and you like your MM... I'd supercharge it. In fact, Jerry should be shipping mine any day now!

My present Marauder is my third purchase. It's a relatively bone stock 300B in SB, with 85+K miles on it now.
I have considered options. A lot of options. I have also owned a supercharged Marauder, so I know what that is like.
I'm saving my pennies for a S/C kit in the spring of '07. The car will be 4 years old, and over 100K by then, and I cannot bring myself to buy something else.

What's the reason for the change consideration? Something new? Different car? Performance?
If it's performance, the new Charger is nothing special. It's a big heavy car (over 4000 lbs), and even though the 5.7 motor is not too bad, it's no performance machine.
Now the SRT-8 version with the 6.1 motor isn't bad. I've had some on my dyno and they put 375 to the wheels stock. Pretty stout. And that's ALSO with 375rw torque. So the SRT-8 can move itself. But even the SRT-8 is no comparison to a blown MM. And yes, you could but a blower on an SRT-8, but it ain't cheap (I did one not long ago, cost the customer close to 12k when it was done).

S/C and you'll never look back, unless it's at one of those things.:burnout:

It would be less expensive to SC your Marauder, and it would outperform any Charger, inlcuding an SRT8.
That said, there are intangibles involved here, including the draw of having a new car. I would go and browse around some Charger/SRT boards. If there are problems and issues, those owners would be discussing them, much as we have discussed issues with the Marauder.
Personally, I wouldn't consider anything other than an SRT8, and they remain expensive cars. Though it's not the same model, I saw a new Magnum SRT8 run there, and the window sticker was $42K. Youch.

Ed, check out www.lxforums.com to see what owners think of the new Charger/300/Magnum etc.
Personally, I would keep the MM if for no other reason than it will always be more rare than the DCX cars, which are becoming a dime a dozen.

If you intend on keeping the Marauder for a long time, I'd consider the SC. Otherwise, an SRT-8 Charger would be a more rational choice. I have seen very lightly used examples for around $30K. This gives you a FACTORY package that performs equal to or better than an SC Marauder in most respects, with a warranty and better resale value.

The nite I was running 12.3 & 12.4 a stock SRT8 ran 13.8 and a highly modified SRT8 ran 13.4.
From my 10-25-06 post, "For comp an SRT Hemi ran 13.8 and a highly modded one ran 13.4. WRX 13.1, Z06 11.76."

A stock SRT-8 can run low 13s. I have even heard of some running high 12s.
In any case, your car has a lot more into than just a supercharger. There is no doubt that a blown Marauder can be made into a very fast car. However, with just a supercharger it is still only a 13 second car. I am not a big fan of Daimlier Chrysler products, but even I can't argue that dollar for dollar a highly modified car is a better investment than a bone stock car that does essentially the same thing.

Hey Ed, Remember me? You gave me grief for not beating my MM and driving normal(on the other MM site). Here's my 2 cents, if you're interested. I've had my MM for almost 2 yrs now. A good friend of my has had a Magnum for 3, my brother has a RT Charger and another good aquaintance has the SRT8 Charger. Here is our 4 opinions: I like my MM for what it is. I am slightly dissapointed with some of its flaws, but I would S/C it before I would replace it. But I am a cheap scate and won't spend the bucks. My friend with the Magnum is pretty much all around satisfied with it - has only a few manufacturing flaws and would like a little more power. My brother with the R/T, who has always been a Ford man, also is mostly satisfied with it except he thinks it to be a cheaply built machine - a little tacky, I think he said once, also wouldn't mind a little more power. The 4th guy, with the SRT8, is the most satisfied of our group because, and we all agree, it is a much better all around car than the others, including but not limited to, the suspension, brakes, driveline, wheels and interior(especially those buckets). BUT he paid well over $42K for it too.

Dodge claims the SRT-8 Charger/ Superbee, is a low fourteen second machine.
While the Charger is a decent choice, I do not see the durability as compared to a Panther.
If considering a Chrysler, I would wait and see what the new Challenger has to offer.
This may sound nit pickey, I don't like the fact that a near fifty thousand dollar car has "bang on" wheel weights! :shake:

Hey Bill,
I was wondering what happened to you. Looks like the basic opinion is keep the MM unless you get the SRT-8.
Problem is I don't want to spend over $40k. so its time to get a SC.
I just was very unhappy with results at the track. But each to their own.
Thanks to all of you for sharing your thoughts. I think I just needed a push.
