During my Track Only Wheel and Tire search...I found this useful calculator (http://www.izook.com/gearcalc.htm).

I believe that the 1st part does it wrong. I thought smaller tires give a car the feel of a shorter rear end gear. With this one, it goes the other way.

I think you are right.

For instance for me going to a 26" tire from a 28" (rounding for estimating purposes) my 4.10's become about a 4.50

According to this site they become a 3.80...

Yeah, they must have the text swapped backwards. Swap old/new tires heights and it will be right.

Or, just do this...

Old tire diameter divided by new tires diameter, multiplied to current gear ratio.

example - 28/26= 1.076 1.076 x 3.55= 3.82

So if you had 3.55s and a 28 inch tire, and went to a 26 inch tire, you'd have a new rear ratio of about 3.82.

This one lets you select your tranny, gears, tires and compare them side by side. It's ideal if you have a dyno sheet and you want to swap tires for the track or make a gear change to put you in the best power band.
