Getting a Marauder was cool. Modding it was cooler. Drag racing was better, yet, but I have a new addiction....
New Smyrna Speedway is 1/2 mile oval with 12 degree turns.
13 of us lined up and were waved onto the track over turn 4. I had the distinct priveledge of being last over the entrance. The sight of 13 marauders lined up 2x2 at the starting line under the lights was more than awesome.
We slowly left the starting line and staggered out in a 'diamond' formation. We took a nice leisurely parade lap. Out of turn 4, the fireworks began. Runners held the outside while paraders took the inside. Speeds reached 85 going into the turns. Exhaust sounds were bouncing off the walls. Marauders were flying around the track.
Each driver was careful and courteous and followed our secret plan. On the video playback it looked like we had been doin it forever, the Marauder's version of a Blue Angels demo team.
We were waved off after 5 laps. The crowd seemed to really enjoy it. We had several positive comments and reactions asfter we parked.
Every participant was just beside themselves. It was very exciting and an experience of a lifetime to see racing from the other side of the wall!
Jamie's tape was given to djv5150 and marauderboi to include with their in-car tape of the action. All of it will go to TJA for inclusion in the MVIV DVD.
I am still pumped today as I write this! Thanx to all who drove for an awesome and safe experience!!!!!!
I can't wait to do it again!!!!!

The stories from the track and the smiles on the participant faces was exciting for those hearing them in the hotel parking lot. Damn, I should have gone! CAN'T WAIT FOR THE VIDEO!

Magindat...I am still beside myself that they let us go out and HOT LAP. NEW SMYRNA's admin is off the hook cool. I wish I could share the apprehension I had when I floorboarded it out of turn 4 onto the straight in front of the cheering fan's....I swear they were on there feet waving us on...I wasnt sure if the flagman was going to boot me off the track or not and when he gave us all a thumbs up well...it was on jack...We all got busy trying to please the paying fans ...I think the way we drove put the Blue Angels to shame...Well almost maybe...At least in my mind we did...The vid link is going to blow any doubters minds so stay tuned fellow MMers...

Darnit I should of skipped going to Disney and came! TJA made it sound like it would be slow 50 mph parade laps! Well oh well. I'll wait for the vids.
The only low point of MVIV for me was not going to the New Smryna event. I've never seen so many adult men with SEG's before in my life. If we ever do something like that again, I'm in!!!
Special thanks to Uncle Buck and Mary (Mrs. Buck) + Bruce Carter for their behind the scenes work to make that a reality!

Hi all,
I have uploaded all the still pictures my wife took while we zoomed around New Smyrna Speedway. (I just told her to do the best she could.) It should wet your appetite until you can see the video. From what little I saw of the playback of the in-car video and video from the stands it should be pretty good. The pictures are in the Photos section under Events and Marauderville IV.

From the pics, the banking does not look to be as much as 25-30 degrees. But that's just my opinion.
I went into the New Smyrna Speedway website and there is absolutely no information at all on the track itself ..... no length details, surface, shape, banking, no nothing ...... Quite unusual for a racetrack. :dunno:
There is however a job opening in the concession stand.
