For those of you that own the Auburn Pro diffs, do you get clutch chatter? I'm asking because I get it only when turning or curving right. Is there a way to correct this. I have regular 75/ 90 ford fluid with about 6oz of ford friction modifier. Auburn calls for non synthetic but was wondering if I used synthetic would it be a problem?, and why do I only get the noise on right turns and curves. Also this is the Unit for 31 spline axles.

I don't know much about the Aburn unit.
I have heard of this noise issuse with them before though.
I have decided to have 31 spline Eaton True tracs installed since they are supposed to be the best and quietest.
Not really sure if that is true either though.

The solution is simple.. Detroit Tru-Trac :D
You're not hearing clutch chatter, because the Auburn is a cone style diff, not a clutch style. You may be hearing the cone chattering in and out of engagement. I would NOT put synthetic in, because that's a friction drive diff. I'd give Auburn a call and see what they say. Maybe another bottle of friction modifier might help.

Someone else suggested that I use another bottle of friction Mod. I'll have to try that and see.
I own a 28 spline Auburn Pro and use non-synthetic fluid. I experienced some of the noise you explained in the first couple of months of ownership. I have been running this rear end setup for over a year and report no problems. I recently pulled a 1.699 60ft and a 1.709 at Atlanta Dragway. The rear was installed by Team Ford in Marietta GA. Motorcraft SAE 75W-140 High Performance Rear Axle Lubricant was also used.

is there a difference between the Eaton True-Trac and the Detroit True-Trac?

I have an Auburn Pro LSD.
The only noise I get is the slightest bit of whine at 30-45 mph.
I watched Lidio's guys put it in. The kid used basic budget oil with modifier and all is well.

I'll change to the Motocraft 75W-140 with friction modifier and see if that helps..

I had the Detroit TrueTrac installed with Moser 31-splines this spring and I have no complaints. I had the factory recommended gear lube put in sans friction modifier. No noise, no chatter. The car straightens itself out nicely when the rear end breaks loose accelerating around a corner without jerking and shoving like the stocker did. Straight ahead acceleration is awesome even when the tires break loose and then grab for traction. I haven't had the car back to the track since the install but so far the streetability has been impressive. Knock on wood it holds up for a while.

I have absolutely no noise at all and so far no problems.

I have installed both the Auburn High Performance (28 spline) and Aburn Pro (31 spline) diffs in my Kenny Brown Marauder S. I used the Motorcraft 75W140 gear lube, with modifier, in all cases. Overall, great performance.
Only with the 31 spline Pro did I hear such chatter on both left and right turns, but they were very tight "lock to lock" turns, like creeping out of a tight parking space. No other complaints.
I kind of liked this noise, it was excatly the way my 1969 Camaro with the General's 12 bolt "posi-traction" sounded with 4:56 gears back in 1969. Ahh...The old days.
I considered it normal noise from a rear end that wasn't giving any slip, either it went away, or, I tuned it out?

I purchased the Motorcraft 75W- 140 today and let me tell you its not cheap. About 18.00 a Quart. I also noticed that it reads SYNTHETIC, but as several of you have stated you've used it without issue. So therefore I'll give it a try...and by the way does anybody know the cpacity of the diff. with the TA Girdle? I bought 2 Quarts and 2 bottles of friction Mod. will that be enough?

Whoa, hold up. You bought the synthetic stuff. You don't want that. You want non-synthetic.
Be careful buying from a dealer. Most of them use drum supplied gear oil for the non-synthetic stuff. So if you walk in the parts dept and ask for gear oil, all they may have on the shelf is the synthetic stuff.

I believe the Motorcraft 75W-140 Rear Axle Lubricant only comes synthetic. This is the stuff that the other Auburn Pro Owners have been using correct? Sal I'm confused here..
