The blinking light on the dash is for the p.a.t.s, is it for anything else?
Where is the outside temp sensor?
What is the little grille looking thing next to the climate control center?

Thanks, Mike

That's the universal code for a post with less than 10 characters since he replied up in the quote.

Zack, I think he meant the red light on top of the dash...

SID, I think it's just for the PATS...never heard of it being for anything else.

Well I guess you just learned something new!

Well I guess you just learned something new!The day I stop learning new things is the day I hang it up... :D

When my check engine light has been on in the past, presumably indicating that I had trouble codes in the PCM, the PATS light didn't do anything differently. Since I'm apparently not the only one who didn't know the PATS light did other things, would you care to elaborate for us?

The theft light has nothing to do with engine codes. When the PATS is armed (after you exit the car), the light will blink steady, to "simulate" the LED used on aftermarket alarms as a visual theft deterrant. When you turn the key to run, if the light comes on solid, that means the PATS system has recognnized the key code, and all is well. If you turn the key to run and the light blinks rapidly, that means the PATS system does NOT recognize the key code, and will NOT start the vehicle. It serves no other purpose.

You are wrong.
When the engine or PCM has a trouble code, the light will remain ON.

Can you prove that? If that really is the case, then that must be a Marauder only feature because no other Fords do that.

It's for the PATS and auto headlight sensor.
Where is the outside temp sensor?
I believe it's in the front near or behind the grill.
What is the little grille looking thing next to the climate control center?
That is where the automatic climate control samples the cabin air temperature.

Thanks, Mike

I've thrown a couple of codes between the Marauder and the wife's Mountaineer - some kept the check engine light on and some didn't. They never kept the PATS light on.

one more question....on the drivers side under the dash, next to the port that you read the codes from....what is the white tube with the black end that looks as if it goes thru the fire wall? I think the other end comes out in the engine compartment next to the transmission dipstick and has a red cap on it.

I never noticed the flashing red Pats lamp stay on, with a CEL displayed.

That white tube is a vacuum supply - used for automatic parking brake release on Town cars and premium packages.
