NCMM, In your picture - the part that is connected to the valve cover directly above the R D in Ford(on coil cover), is leaking oil on mine. Not sure what it is - something like a PCV?? Is it normal to have oil in that part/tube? If so, I guess just replacement is all that is needed?

Hi Bill,
Yep, I believe that is what you think it is. Anyone else care to comment?

Yep - PCV. Might want to change it if it's leaking oil.

Oil inside is normal, leaking oil is not.

Is there much to installing these?
I'm thinking it might be a good "while I'm at it" project when we put the hoopercharger on next week.
Thanks!

Anyone know if these coil covers are polished?
Raudermaster
11-16-2006, 11:26 AM
Installation took me about 15 minutes out of my busy day ;) and a socket wrench to do both sides on my car. The whole stock coil cover is replaced with this. They're not polished, but they have kind of a glossy look to them.

Easy install, 2 bolts off - 2 bolts on.... If they are the same as mine, not polished but they are clearcoated.

Think they'll match up nice with my polished blower?
Im thinking of getting a set.

I think they'll be a close enough match. I'm not sure, maybe you could *polish* them yourself to be a bit more shinier? I know they they're a lot less $$ wise than the Trilogy coil covers.

Call me weird, and all due repect to those that have these on there cars, and to those who plan to buy these, but I want as few things on my MM as posible that say FORD.
I'll be going with the ones from Colex that say MARAUDER.
Again I'm the first one to say that I'm weird.:o
I got mine from the same E-bay seller w/o any problems. Fast shipping and a great price.

Jolly Rodger, I'm with you there. I am not driving a Ford. Only problem I have is the Colex cost. They were my first choice, but at almost three times the cost, I am reluctantly opting for the Ford covers. Sigh.

You are driving a FORD (with a Mercury emblem) all you have to do is check the white sticker on the inside of the driver's door.
In big letters: MFD BY THE FORD MOTOR CO.
The engine was built at the FORD Engine Plant (Romeo, Mich)
and the car was put together at the FORD Plant in St. Thomas, Ont. Canada.
The Brand Name is: Mercury....but it's still powered by FORD!
IMHO "Powered by Ford" coil covers look great on any Marauder
and rightfully so.
Gotta Love It!:rasta:

Oh really, I had no idea Merc was made by Ford. I suppose next you'll tell me that Lincoln is not its own entity. I'm pretty sure any fool knows who makes the MM. By the way, do you have any Gods Head bling?;)

True, and at the rate things are going MERCURY will soon be extinct...
One more reason why I proudly wear Colex's MARAUDER coil covers on my MERCURY MARAUDER.
IMHO: It is kinda like putting Chevy logos on your Cadillac...sure we know that FORD & Chevy make all the engines...but I love the rarity of my Mercury Marauder vs a Ford CV. Anyway...those FORD GT coil covers are cool, they're just not my cup of tea.

I think those Ford GT covers make more sense on a Mustang than on a limited production marauder...
I am going with Colex... but if we all did the same mods... That would really suck.. so to each their own, have fun, and never look back ....
Unless its through the rear view at a ricer etc....

I used "Dupli-Color" Ceramic ENGINE ENAMEL (Ford Blue) part#Ford Blue DE 1601 (spray can) 12oz.
and I am very happy with the results.

I just added "MARAUDER" to mine
I used "TESTORS" paint pens & custom "rub-on" decal

That's a little different.. Cadillac's don't come with Chevy engines, they come with Cadillac specific engines.
I like the "Marauder/Powered By Ford" idea like in the pic in the previous post. That makes much more sense than just "Powered By Ford".
I think it probably comes to down to guys who are proud of their Marauders because they are Marauders will want something that says Marauder on it. And guys that are proud of their Marauders because they are Ford products will not mind the Powered By Ford plate.

Do you think that sticker will hold up? Did you clear coat after all your work? I actually love what you did with your covers and, if you don't mind, would maybe like to copy your work. Nice job. Hope the paint/sticker lasts.
I coppied the marauder text out of my owners manual, blew it up to the size
i needed, then went to a local sign shop (national chain, do not recall the name, sorry) they cleaned it up made them to my dimensions, they said
the make them for fleet vehicles (idiot tags ex:"oil only")
i have 6000 mi since i put them on, they look the same.
the sign shop recomended against clear coat????
the paint looks great too, no change in color or anything.

Thanks MCAT. Now, do you mind if I copy your design/colors? Soon as I bid on mine a week ago, I knew they needed something to make them stand out just a bit more than the plain silver finish and I wasn't sure how I was going to tackle that. But after seeing what you did, I wouldn't change a thing from your design. What say you about copycats?

Wes Chain has engine plates, you can get them personaized too. For the driver's side stock coil cover, replacing the "InTech 4V" plate

You can do what ever you want, I get a lot of ideas from this website
Im flattered you like what i did, copy away if you want,
I would think you would want to personlize yours, by doing somthing
a little different???:)
