How to build a Marauder

Start with a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis platform.
Add a hot rod Ford engine
Add a Ford truck transmission
Add a Ford Crown Vic rear taillight/deck
Add model specific front end treatment
Add model specific wheels
Add semi custom mdel specific interior
Offer the car to be sold through FORD dealerships (declined, bad move)
Install God’s Head and Merc emblems
Ship to ill prepared dealerships/customer base
Cancel the program….leaving a cult of drivers to enjoy their relatively exclusive ride and to discuss the merits of cross badging.

It’s a Mongrel with a Merc nameplate. Personally being a FORD guy through and through, I was disappointed it wasn’t sold as a hot rod Vic… reviving the Galaxie 500XL model designation might have had an interesting effect…but I’m weird like that.

Hey, I never thought of the Galaxy idea, but my first car was a 63 Galaxy 500. It would have been cool to have another one!

Hey, Sam. No reason why they can't drop a Motosport 5.4 or larger displacement crate engine in a CVPI/Sport, and call that a Galaxy 500. I mean, how hard would it be? Only thing is, getting it through the testing procedure, and the newly painted "green" boardroom would kill it from the get-go.

Ahh, yes. I had hoped the CV Sport would have been badged as a Galaxie, but then I have a soft spot for those. My parents bought a '64 Galaxie back in '69. I sold the same car about 18 months ago to finance a business venture. Should have kept the car.....:shake:

People clone a Pontiac Tempest into a GTO or a Mustang into a Shelby, why not clone a Crown Vic into a Marauder.

Folks there is no reason Ford can do a hot rod CV and marauder side by side just like in the '60's & '70's.

WE are looking at changing parts? Not reinventing the wheel.

Hey, now. I was just trying to add a little humor to the subject brought up by the coil cover discussion. I am happy with Da Merc and I agree, Ford and Merc probably could have sold them side by side with some better marketing. That time is long past though IMO...the hardware is too dated compared to the competition.

You know that now Ford is using the Galaxy name on a European mini-van type contraption.

I don't care what they could have called it, or, who finally came to produce it. I love the car, that all I need to know.

Not to be picky here, but Sam is right, the Ford car is Galaxie. (So someone at Ford couldn't spell...)

Galaxy is another more recent Ford model mini van / crossover thingy.

Will Ford ever learn! Why don't they just ask US the car people.

No they will pay big bucks and get a focus group together that know nothing about cars.....

Hmm, $18K Crown Vic - 4.6 SOHC + 400 hp Hurricane = $20K?...
<HR style="COLOR: #d1d1e1" SIZE=1><!-- / icon and title --><!-- message -->Figure in a new 6 speed with the 400 hp Hurricane, we have a low 14/high 13 second Panther. Or more radical:

1) A slightly detuned "Boss 7 Liter" (Hurricane project) V8
a. lets say 400 hp naturally aspirated

2) Fresh new styling (a Starliner or Starlifter roof?)

3) Big brakes standard on the new "Sport 7 Litre"
a. D-hole steel 18x10" black wheels

4) No nonsense rubber mat floor instead of carpet

5) Police wiring package for installing aftermarket high powered sub-amp
a. radio delete for double DIN navigation/radio head unit
b. interior with 4-6" speaker cutouts & 12" sub speaker box in the trunk

6) Auto 6 speed trans, 4.30 Detroit locker, 31 spline semi-floating axles

7) $30,000 retail pricing
