Well.....I have had the remote oil filter kit on for about 10 months and noticed the last few months that the filter was coated in oil.....not dripping but dirty and oily!!
I tried the usual...tightening fittings, etc.....to no avail so I called Trans-Dapt and they immediately told me they had some of the remote bases that had leaked due to porosity?? They sent me another base and I installed it yesterday and it looked OK...UNTIL TODAY WHEN I NOTICED IT WAS WET ALSO!!!:mad2:
It appears the hoses are leaking at the turnable joints and will need to be replaced....FUN....FUN....FUN! !!:help:
Has anyone had this problem and if so how'd ya fix it??

Replace the Trans-Adapt junk with a quality product.

Try Canton products....Billet aluminum vs. cast (porous) aluminum.

I used #8 stainless braided hoses and aluminum race fittings from my local speed shop. About $100 later the leaks were gone.

GG,
I would if I knew what to buy?? Evidently you don't know either or you might have suggested something else along with your snippy reply!!:shake:
Joe,
Thanks for your reply but I would have to piece it together since I can't see where Canton sells a complete kit?? All the other kits use hose barbs and clamps....I don't like that arrangement!!
Trans-Dapt is working with me and I'm sure they will send new hoses as it appears that is where the leak(s) are??
I have a local guy here that will make me some lines if necessary!!
BTW, the TD kits can't be all that crappy since they are sold everywhere and their customer service seems to be top notch??;)

No, I don't know where/what to do about a kit. I've been watching this thread for the last year, hoping someone would come up with top-notch answer.
Your installation of the Trans-Dapt was a Bετα version for many on this forum. We thank you for that! Since it seems you haven't yet actually found the source of the leak, it could be a minor fault. The Trans-Dapt is an inexpensive solution ("cheap"), possibly more suited to an econo-box than a more premium model like an MM.
In my self-deluded mind, I picture my MM unworthy of "cheap" (or "junk") mainstream solutions. I want the best, and we have yet to see our vendors or forum members step up to the plate.
I still contend we need 3/4" hose for proper flow and pressure. I admit I haven't dis-assembled the factory cooler to see what size ports are used. The 1/2" are too girly-man for my He-Man tastes. I envision an OEM quality installation, such as the Aeroquip braided stainless hoses and cooler that was used on the '70 428 Super Cobra-Jets.
That being said, it could well be that a replacement cooler is overkill for our cars. A coolant heat exchanger is more efficient than a finned aircooled design. With the modern design of our DOHC, Ford may have their (and our) bases covered.

True, Canton does not make a kit...I bought their remote adapter mount & block adapter and made up my own lines out of -08 Aeroquip Startlite hose with JIC fittings.
