Hey Gents,
Been away again, work is off the chain busy ( Thank you jeebus ). Anyways, I need to vent as well as ask for some advice.
It seems that everyone that rides in my Merc feels the need to SLAM the GD door when they get out. If, on occasion I have the presence of mind to forewarn and/or get out and demonstrate the ease that these doors close, I can thwart off another SLAM.
The passenger side front window now is inop. I tried it from both master and door switch and even listened for the window motor to actuate. I hear nothing. Have any of you repaired this yourself? if so what costs are involved. The car is 3 years old and has 60k, Im pissed that this has happened so soon. Do you think the slamming has something to do with it?
Thanks!
Don

Well, any electrical problem is a PITA trying to pinpoint. I would first start at the passenger side door and determine whether or not you have power going to the window switch. On my old 97 CVPI the connector came loose from the switch on the FP side door. All I can say is troubleshoot, start from a possible point of failure, the switch, and work from there. Dont worry, the pros on this site will get you up an running in no time. good luck

Slamming sucks but has nothing to do with it.
It is the regulator. They are replaced as an assembly and are a bit pricey when they are out of warranty.
Ask Jerry Barnes for his. Maybe he has them left over from when he stripped his car to make a race car out of his. :D

I remeber on several cars that i owned i would get a dead spot in the window motor.
try this, Hold down the window button and slam the door at the same time. if it is a dead spot the slam should jar the motor just enough to make electrical contact and the window will operate.
give it a try, it is the quickest check you can do.

Hope you get your window fixed ....
Maybe you are being far too tactful with your passengers about slamming the door. Try this instead .... "If you slam that dayum door again, you'll be walking home". ;) Sometimes you just gotta be blunt to get the point across. My wife didn't like it the first couple times; but she got tired of walking.

Try pushing the button while slamming it and it may break free. It worked on mine. No trouble since. Also on my wifes Town Car.

Before you replace ANYTHING, try swapping out the driver's window switch.
THE POWER FOR ALL 4 WINDOWS IS DISTRIBUTED FROM THE DRIVER'S SWITCH.
You might swap the switch, and find the window will work again.

Tried the slam with the button held down at the door. Still nothing. I would like to hear from someone that has taken off the door panel for a " step by step" removal. I have a friend that works for a Ford Dealer. I was considering asking if they might let me " try " a master switch to see if that's the problem. One reply mentioned that all the door positioned window switches get power from the master. 3 year old, rarely used window and it goes out. Doesnt make sense. =/

I had the exact same problem/symtom. Everthing worked except passenger window. MENINBLK is correct, mine was the drivers door switch assy. By the way, I doubt very much that its the regulator.

Ask RoyLPITA to run my OASIS and he will be able to tell you what was done to my car to fix the problem.

Ok, So maybe you had a different problem. Your's is the first I have heard of a bad regulator and I have heard of 4 bad switches now. But, you told him the problem "is the regulator". How can you be so possitive without any investigation. A conclusion jumper me thinks.

Normally its the motor, the bushings get worn so when you go to activate the motor it binds up, you can pull the door panel and tap on the motor while at the same time use the switch and I bet it breaks loose, and it may work fine after that, or it may not. With the panel off you can also verify power to the motor

My switch went bad on my MM. I could have bought it wholesale and changed it in 10 minutes. Had it replaced under warrenty but it cost me $45 because I have a $50 deductible.
If you want to work on an MM, you need the Ford shop manual.

Well I have all the luck in the world lately. 5 Bids awarded ( ChaChing ) and I fixed the inop window motor. Going with the suggestions that you all provided and factoring in the funkyassed window guides our cars have, I had someone activate the switch while I gave a tug upward on the glass. BAM! the motor kicked in and all is well. I lubed the channels and now the planets as well as the guides are aligned.

My passenger F/R windows are intermittent going down from their own switches, and can only go up with the driver's switches. (no the lock is not on). Anyway, seeing as it could be a few things I want to start with the driver's lockout, and then the driver's switch(es), and then maybe the passenger's switches. Are their any posts about how to do this? pics?
