My MM (build mid Jan'03) has a semi-common problem of 'surging' when engine is cold. It is minor and goes away soon.
A business aquaintance has a '01 CV. His surge was fairly bad, had dealer re-program, surge gone but pings like a diesel!!!
He took it back and had them re-do, surge still gone, but some ping still present.
Moral for me is too leave as is!!!

I've not noticed a cold surge with mine.

There is a reflash that is supposed to take care of the cold surge. If you can live with it, yes, just leave be

I have posted this before...but it applies here as well.
I had cold surge when my MM was new but it seemed to fade away as I got more miles on it.
Then my dealership graciously updated my programming with out mentioning it before hand, and I have the surge back!
It is even worse then before since it seems to happen sporadicaly regardless of car temp.
Hopefully this will be corrected when the DR chip is installed.

I get it sometimes in the '01, so now I make sure I keep my foot firm on the pedal instead of on there just enough to shift out of park. It doesn't happen all the time is what's weird.
