I am a happy 3 month old owner of a black 03 and I recently hit the median (avoiding an accident) and messed up the driver side front rim and tire, I went to the dealer and they quoted me a price of $978 for a new rim and tire. He said it was a specially made rim for this car only and so on. I made some closer observations to the wheels on the car and noticed that the car has 4 rear tires (245/55ZR18) and not the usual front pair and rear pair. I did not know that the car orginally came with a front pair and a rear pair until this point.

So, my question, should I buy another rear rim and tire on-line or should I get the proper front tire set 235/50ZR18? Is there a problem if I drive the car on the 4 rear style tires, until I have the money to purchase the front set? I found some of these tires and rims on-line, but do any of you have any suggestions where I should go?

Thanks for the help
I am learning a ton on this website!

You can run with the 4 you have just fine, it looks better getting the correct size though - it adds a "rake" effect to the look of the car.

You can buy a rim from Ford Racing in the Mustang catalog, it will come with a Ford Racing centercap - no worries from what I hear it's that same as the Marauder wheel - cost is $300-400 I believe.

If you get a new tire, might as well get the front...get two, they're often on sale for only $75 each at tirerack and usually in stock.

Would anyone have the exact part number for the mustang/marauder wheel? I'm looking at ford racing web page and the mustang tuning page and I dont see it. I need to order 2 rims but I want to be sure and get the correct item. Thanks, Reddog.

Check out ebay....someone is selling Marauder "Knock-offs" that are cast not forged for $200 each...I think!!?? They will work fine for all applications except widening!!

If you cannot find one I think I have one I'll sell you....PM me and I can elaborate!!;)

Welcome to the collective Johnny! Go to Tirerack and search for OEM Marauder tires. As mentioned fronts are about $75.00 ea., rears are around $135.00 ea.

I would recommend using a L/M Dealer for changing tires as the rims can be easily damaged. Although there are other places I am sure that could do it for you.

Enjoy the site.

Mike.

I happen to have one brand new, un-used, Marauder wheel in it's Ford Racing Box (no center cap)

If you need it, let me know.

Welcome Johnny!!! TireRack is great. If you decide to purchase through them, be sure to use the link on the mm.net home page when you go to order your tires.

This is exactly why 3-month old folks ought not to be driving. ;)

Hope you get your wheel problem fixed.

BTW -- Welcome :welcome1: to the MM.Net and Happy Maraudering.

I would recommend using a L/M Dealer for changing tires as the rims can be easily damaged. Neither my selling dealer nor the local Ford garage I use had the correct equipment to mount tires on my MM rims. The little hole-in-the-wall independent BFG store I've used for years took care of me.

Just shows to go ya! I had the exact opposite experience. I preferred the little old independent tire place that's been there for forty years... Guy met me outside to tell me they didn't have the right equipment to handle install/balance/align my new tires. Local Ford dealer that I have had pretty good luck with had the correct adapters and tools and made nary a scratch on the rims.
