irratic brake lamp

I read a thread a while back concerning the brake lamp function.
Symptom;
The brake lamp does not stay on when you deprss the brake pedal less than an inch or so.
It comes on with the slightest touch but the brake lamps don't stay lit, even if you have your foot well into the pedal.
I searched and could not find out if or how it was resolved.

Probably the stop lamp switch. I've had it go bad before on a couple panthers.
