What the heck, take it in to have that leaky thing fixed....good excuse to have rear gears upgraded ..then top it off with the pretty cover shown above. :)

Use the axle TSB as an excuse for a free seal.

Easy solution:

1. Go to NAPA auto parts and get a "Victor Reinz" gasket for a Ford 8.8 differential cover.

2. Remove differential cover by unbolting it with tools found in a basic socket set. (It stinks and it's messy, but what the hey!)

3. Clean said differential cover, making sure to remove the black RTV gasket crap the factory used.

4. Replace cover, using fancy Victor Reinz gasket from NAPA for a nice tight seal.

5. Pour two quarts (more or less) of Royal Purple 75W90 into fill hole.

6. Enjoy.

Total cost is about $30 for you to do it yourself, and you'll be sure it was done correctly. Take it somewhere and you'll easily pay $50 to $100 for crappy differential fluid and substandard workmanship.

It's an easy job. Do it yourself.

If you need pics to help you with this job, let me know and I'll send you the link to my photos. I took pics the last time I changed the differential fluid on my Crown Vic (same setup as the Marauder).
