I would like to know if any of you with blowers have gone through belts over time or if they hold up. Also those of you who have broke a belt, could you easily find one or did you have to order it from the company that sold you your blower? Thanks.

A little dust. Had two break, one because of an idler pulley siezing, the other due to an alternator locking up. Belts were standard NAPA items, but the alternator and idler pulley were not.

As Brian said the PC aluminum idlers leave a lot to be desired so I contacted Doug Holloway at Billetflow and he designed one that will last!!! If the idler fails in any way it will most likely take the belt out with it!!?? These little idlers turn 4X tha crank!!

I carry a spare belt and spare fuel pump just incase I have a failure in the Boonies!!:help:

So far I have about 30K miles on this belt and 18K on the idler from Doug......The PC idlers lasted about 5K miles before they looked threatening!!

PC said they had a run of idlers with soft ceramic coating and are going to improve them after the 400 they had in stock were gone......I got 5 or 6 of them myself......

Dominick, I haven't had any belt issues and have almost 16,000 mile on the Trilogy, but I wanted to keep a spare set in the trunk "just in case". The 6-rib FEAD belt was easy to get, but the 8-rib blower belt is apparently less common. My favourite parts jobber checked the computer and found there were only 2 in the country at the time and had to order it from Dayton OH...

I had a belt get chewed up right after install.
I bought a replacement ( had it the same day, RF... don't know who YOUR parts guy was:D ) swapped the pulley around and drove home. Trilogy sent me a new Gates and I'm on my way for over 6k.
BTW, don't get the Dayco belts with the checkerboard grooves. I gained like 4 psi with the Gates that comes with the Trilogy.
Oh, the dayco is in my trunk as a spare.
