Well folks.....

The ProCharger is a year old this week and it has been a BLAST!!! 38,500 miles of absolute "Maraudering Pleasure" but as STRONG as it is it has developed some drivability quirks lately??

WOT always has been and still is a thrilling ride but part throttle romps in "Da Boost" have been a bit funky....Surging or as Dave Lamberson calls it..."Bucking"!! We experimented with the EGR function and improved it 90%.....VERY HAPPY...but still a bit funny feeling at part throttle??:shake:

Well, I decided to change the spark plugs this AM (about 20K miles on them) and although they looked perfect....gap at .035" and all were clean.....the new ones seem to have added 100 HP to the part throttle power....WOW!!! I would have never believed it.......I launched at about 3/4 throttle with wheel spin...backed off a bit and got more wheel spin at the 1-2 shift at about 5# of boost...WOW..WOW??:bows: Also, there is NO HINT of surging or bucking...just smooth acceleration and power...Again, I WOULD NEVER HAVE BELIEVED IT!!!

Less than a $10.00 "Mod" ( I guess any change that improves performance can be called a "Mod") and I will have to learn to drive it again just like last year!!!;)

I wonder what happens to plugs that look perfectly good to make them "weak"??

Ideas??

Happy Thanksgiving!!

i was wondering about that surge thing with those kits, guess its the same as part throttle boost on a modded turbo car. Hated it on mine.
Does the boost go up gradually or surges as stated above ?

Marauderjack,

In a one and a half year of ownership, i changed mine twice (I know, I know maybe i'm paranoid). Boths times, all eight were looking perfect with no visible problems and they were color perfect. Each time, the mecanic told me it was a waste of time and money.

But each time afterwards , the car felt quite a bit better similar to the way you are describing it. Maybe pressurized plugs get a lot shorter life even is they are treated OK otherwise.

With our power, I feel the stress factor of 20K miles to be enough--like you said---it feels better afterwards---prolly a N/A car wouldn't need it nor show any signs---I'm at 10 with my plugs----but will change at 20.......nice to know my hunch is somwwhat correct.....Tom

You kept plugs in a blown car for 38000 miles?
Sheesh.

Zack.....

Read paragraph #3.....20K miles on the last set!!!:shake:

PC recommends changing at 10K for optimum performance.....Based on my experience yasterday.....I'll do it!!!!:bows:

Max454....

The surging was very noticable at only part throttle in boost (<5#)......The plugs fixed it completely!! It doesn't take but one bad plug to cause problems and I guess I had at least one bad plug?? It had a slight and intermittant "Putt-Putt" noise in the exhaust at idle but I figured with all the stuff Todd did with my exhaust it was normal?? Now the exhaust at idle is normal with no odd sounds!!

Funny thing is there was no hint of a missfire or surging while accelerating without boost........It was smooth and the exhaust sounded perfect??

All I can say is it is a different car now!!
