Well, it had to happen. I drive the Tbird in the winter for 7 years with no incedent, then the first winter driving the Marauder (a much more capable car in the winter BTW) I get into an accident. A buddy and I were heading down 137th Ave when a car pulled out in the middle of the road to attempt a left turn and stops right in my lane. There was nowhere for me to go, left would put me into the median and oncoming traffic, the right lane was occupied by a pickup truck making a right turn and obsuring our view of each other until it was too late. The only safe thing to do was slam on the brakes and brace for impact as it takes a little longer than 2 car lengths to slow a 4500lb car to a stop on slightly slippery road from 60km/hr. Luckily, no one was injured and I resisted the urge to kill the other driver afterwards. The Marauder seems to have fared fairly well in the collision, with the exception of the airbags going off, just the grill and bumper that were obviously damaged, the car is a tank.

Anyways, here are some pics that I took:

The Marauder.

What year is the 'Bird? I had an '87 Turbo Couple a while back, 5-speed manual, and that car was the worst thing I've ever driven in the snow, no exceptions!

Whoops! Just read the sig... nevermind!

Sorry to read of your accident. Glad no one was hurt.
I do not know which is worst? The snow falling on the marauder or the damage?

Looks like just grill and bumper damage they will have to look a little more when they remove more parts.

Good luck with repairs.

He was making a left turn across my lane from the side street, we hit at a right angle. People are always creeping into the road to sit in the median area and wait for traffic to clear. That's what this guy was doing but he didn't see me in the left hand lane on the other side of a truck turning right.

Other than the airbags it looks like all you really need in a new grill and a bumper repaint.

Why is it everyone's IQ in bad weather drops 20 points and result in this?

....the Marauder (a much more capable car in the winter BTW)

Compared to what?

Your'e driving a MM with BFG's in the snow? :nono:

Snow tires would have stopped ya.
Better yet yet...anything other than a MM would have stopped shorter.:shake:

Ahhh...but then again Kevin and I drove to St.Albans, Vermont in January in a blown Cobra with widened summer tires.

I guess you get what you ask for regardless of other driver error.

Fix it and drive it again. Mine has been in two accidents because of snow and black ice. I learned my lession the first time.... someone else didn't even when I told them not to use my car in the winter. ;) Glad to hear the damage is minimal and everyones alright.... physically.

Glad you are OK...The new bumper is gonna look great...Does anyone know if you can get the factory installed vin sticker on the bottom of an OEM factory bumper...be nice to have that on the new one.IMHO

I know how you feel, you and the MM will be as good as new before you know it. Just another chapter in your Marauder chronicals

That sucks, hopefully the damage will be as minor as it looks from the pics!

The roads in town here have been slicker than snot on a doorknob for the last week.

Good no one was hurt. Oh, yea . . .that'll buff right out. ;)

p.s. I think I see you around once in a while downtown. Do you ocassionally park near the EPS recruting centre, on Jasper and 109th?
