View Full Version : Light filter?

I changed the lights for our lower gages and noticed a blue rubber covering each light.
Is there any point to having these on? I took mine off and the lights are now brighter, but look dim in a way. I'm going to buy the real thing from Ford next week because I think those are brighter.
Again any point to these things? There must be otherwise they wouldn't be on there.

The covers are on there to give a bluish cast to the light from the bulbs.

The BLUE covers make the light BRIGHTER.
Think about it...
Halogen lights look BRIGHTER when the bulb is colored blue.
They look dull and dingy if the bulb is plain clear.

Motorhead and Donny Carlson, you two are both one step away from "moderated mode", if you want to beat on each other, do it by e-mail.
Any questions?

I bought the SlkMerc with these installed, I love the look especially when you hit the unlock on the remote at night and they come on.........way cool.
WTG Mac, keep em in line. I know when I have posted for some help and rec'd some smart aleck replies, I was less than thrilled. After all, this is a place for us new to our MM's to get help from the MM gurus.

Sorry, but as you can see I'm not the one that gets the fire going. About the headlights: I had the bulbs changed to a blue and it was the biggest mistake ever. The lowbeams were brighter than the highbeams and I had it changed back the next day. Unless your talking about the types of headlights BMWs have, I would steer clear of those.

Now I offically have a turned stomach. I mean really, MM.net has now officially become a elementary school with demerit's handed out if you get out of line.
May as well come up with background skins of clouds, tree's, and things of nature to the site since it's being crafted to be the garden of Eden where nobody can add some wit or sarcasm to their posts without fear of the great flood handing out points and vacations.

Interesting. No checkered flags, so you aren't a paid up contributing member here? Ironic.
