I have decided to sell my 1996 Ford Mustang Cobra Convertible and buy another Marauder. The Cobra has 24k on it and is bone stock and looks brand new. If you know of any high mileage Marauder's that are nice, please let me know.

Hi all,
That just goes to show how the dealers that sold these cars thought they were like any other model. "If it don't sell right away put a Carrage Roof on it." Oh, the disgrace.

What a shame, you think they could have atleast put a white top on it so it matches the interior.:D

The thing I love the most about this car (The mercury marauder) is that it reminds me of my first car (1989 Grand Marquis). This 89 Grand Marquis was bought brand new by my father and driven like it was stolen by my mother until it became our "junker" when i turned 15. Sold it for 200 dollars and wish we never had (dad's idea). I saw this car at carmax when i took my cousin to get his sentra after he cracked the block in his corolla (long story). Took it for a test drive on Thursday and was making payment's on it Monday. The one thing I wish this car had was a vinyl top because my 89 did (as well as what I hope to be my 1969 Ford Ranchero, which is sitting in my grandmother's garage in San Fransisco collecting rust cough* I mean dust). I will say they shoudln't have done such a thing to such a rare car though (had it been one of the more common models I would have been more at ease with this) Looks just like I wish mine did (except black)

Also their is a roush around town who claims his car is worth 6 figures being the only signed roush with a red interior. not sure if that means diddly but he also said my car had a 2 valve so he can eat me. My point is this may add to the value of the car later on being the only one with a vinyl top, not that I know anything about how that jazz n snazz works.

If it was a special order from the factory that way, it might increase the value. If the dealer applied it to help move the car, I would be very doubtful...

A very large dealer near me (Reedman Langhorn, Pa.) put vinyl top on about 10 black marauders to "move" them. I know of one garage keep with only 6,000 miles on it, '03 Aug. build.
