View Full Version : What kind of raffle would you members like to see?

MERCMAN

What would you members like to see raffled off in the future. In the past only S/C have been offered so what else would you like to see? Please
suggest only items offered by the vendors represented here

Vote in the poll and perhaps it will happen!!

I don't know how a raffle would go for anything less expensive than a S/C. Unless it was for big brake kit or complete exhaust system. Maybe a collection of parts like a PI torque converter, rear cooling kit, frt & rear Addco's, driveshaft, Art Carr trans pan, underdrive pulleys & driveshaft hoop and upper and lower control arms.

Personally, I would just like to see someone send me a bunch of cash for no reason whatsover. I have a few projects in mind and sure could use it.

I voted according to what I will need to add to my #3 MM in my short term future. Though I know I am excluded from this (and any MM.Net) raffle, I voted nonetheless.

Thanks for asking, Dan. I hope this gives us some direction.

Personally, I'd like to see more supercharger raffles.

$50 per ticket, limited to 150 tickets = $7,500.

This should cover the cost of any supercharger kit plus provide some leftover cash for mm.net's operating budget. And at $50 a crack, it opens the door to more participation by the little guys (like me!).

Heck, there could be a running raffle, say one per month.

Didn't vote. Need to add all of the abovethere all good items to someone here.Maybe feature an auction once a month for anyone of these smaller items and raffle the s/cers.just a thought.

A complete driveable Marauder. Maybe get one for about $10-12k, especially if it needs minor repairs. Fix it and raffle it off. If people are willing to pay $100/ticket for a supercharger kit, surely they would pay that for chances to win a complete car.

I agree on the S/C Kit. But....not the OVER price. Trilogy - 60 Tickets @ $100 each. It just pays for the S/C itself.

Vortech A2A - 50 Tickets @ $100 each....and so on.....

Yes, I know....this thread was probably about raising funds for the site, but I have had this though before, and no venue to mention it :D

Another agreement from above.

Due to the price of items, "Kits" or "Levels" would be a good idea. The "Kit" listed by fastblackmerc is a good example, but that is a LOT of items.

Or

Full Kooks / DR Exhaust w/ Tips
Widened Wheels (w/ or w/o Tires)
Drive Shaft & Loop
Trans Parts
All of the cool little do-dads (Door Sills, Valve Covers, Thumb Screws, SS Inserts, etc...)

The raffles would be of less expensive mods, with MUCH reduced ticket price.
5 or 10 bucks a ticket so that more people would be interested and participate.

I already have a tuner, but I would love to see a suspension raffle since I will be doing that this spring for sure.

I would like to see on of these:

Addco front and rear sway bars
Metco setup: control arms, Watts link, and drive shaft loop

Or a combination of the 2 for the full setup

Or, how about the Naake QA1 coilover setup?

I was thinking about my recommendation for a monthly supercharger raffle, and I have tweaked it a bit. Here it goes:

Rather than doing it monthly, just do it continuously. So, sell the allotted number of tickets, choose a winner, and then begin another raffle. This might be monthly, it might be every other month, it might be any amount of time.

Here's another thought: Don't do another "You pick the supercharger you want" raffle. That's inherently unfair, and I'll explain why.

Let's say someone who already has a supercharger participates in the raffle and wins - I'll call this fictitious person "CheeseheadBill" - and decides to "sell" his winning ticket to another member. This is actually a good thing if this happens, because CheeseheadBill makes some cash and the buyer of the ticket gets a helluva deal on a supercharger!

The problem is, which supercharger do you think CheeseheadBill is going to pick when he wins? Obviously, he'll pick the most costly kit so he can sell his ticket at the highest value.

My proposal:

Have a continuous supercharger raffle. When one is done, start another one. The first raffle could be for a F.I.T. kit, the second could be for a Reinhart kit, and the third could be for the Trilogy kit - and then start over again. (You can do them in any order, obviously.) This gives each of our fine vendors a fair shot at gaining a customer and it also give them fair respresentation on this board with their respective supercharger kits.

You could also run them concurrently, but I think it would be best to run them consecutively (one at a time).

Aim for a 10%-15% profit to help cover mm.net's operating expenses - this would be about $450 to $900, which seems like a fair amount for fund-raising purposes. (Putting on a raffle takes time and resources, so there should be SOME profit involved.)

So, let's say you're going a Trilogy kit and the supercharger is $6,000, and let's say mm.net is shooting for 10% profit ($600). Sell 88 tickets for $75 apiece, or sell 132 tickets for $50 apiece, or whatever. Once all of the allotted tickets have sold, you have a winner. Then it's time to start the next raffle.

Of course, the raffle winner should have to pay for their own installation, shipping costs, and any upgrades they want, but these terms should be clearly spelled out in the raffle listing - people need to know exactly what is and what is not included in the raffle.

Smaller raffles for items such as tuners, suspension components, etc., can be held concurrently with the supercharger raffle. There's really no reason why you can't have several raffles going at once. Each raffle will end when all of the tickets have been sold.

The trick is to avoid seeking too much profit, otherwise the tickets become cost prohibitive and they will be harder to sell. (Think: too much expense for the ticket + too little likelihood of winning = low ticket sales.)

Just my thoughts. I think this would be a good way for mm.net to generate some operating capital, while at the same time giving us little guys a shot at some of the big $$$ toys.

Motor on, ladies and gentlemen.

I agree with this, or drop the price of each ticket and put a cap of 100 tickets. But also include shipping when calculating the price of the kit.

Great discussion! By planning these fundraisers wisely, the best outcome could be that we don't need to charge anything to anyone for Marauderville, which certainly takes the financial pressure off of planning. And, Members get chances to enhance their Marauder Experience with a minimal investment.

Limiting it to 100 tickets is a good idea because it makes it easy for people to understand their probability of winning in terms of %. Plus, it makes it easier for the person running the raffle to keep the books nice and neat.

F.I.T. kit is about $5,000. 10% profit for mm.net. Total = $5,500.
100 tickets = $55 each.

Rheinhart kit is about $5,000. 10% profit for mm.net. Total = $5,500.
100 tickets = $55 each.

Trilogy kit is about $6,000. 10% profit for mm.net. Total = $6,600.
100 tickets = $66 each.

Do the same thing with the tuners, tires, suspension components, and so forth. 100 tickets maximum.

Create a new forum for RAFFLES.

Sell the raffle tickets and update the status of each raffle in that raffle's appropriate thread in the RAFFLES forum. Once the 100 tickets are sold, that raffle is over. A winner is chosen and we're on to the next raffle.

Thanks for the positive comments, guys. I was awake half the night last night thinking about this. The beauty of it is this: everyone benefits! MM.net makes a little money for operating expenses (possibly for Marauderville costs), the vendors sell more products, and the little guys like me have a shot at getting some big toys for small change. (Lots of guys like me can spring for a few $50 raffle tickets, but have a much harder time coming up with $5,000+ for a supercharger kit.)

I respectfully turn the forum over to the admins....
