Where is it at?

Usually Scottsdale, Arizona. Sometimes in Florida, can't recall exactly where in Fla.

It's in Scottsdale, Arizona. I went a couple of years ago by myself and really enjoyed the trip. There is a ton of car stuff to do. I remember telling my wife I had a meeting in Phoenix. She was watching TV and saw the Auction on the News. She called me yelling, "You Are At A Car Show, Aren't You!" I had to confess, but I told her I was not with another woman! The guys standing next to me listening to the conversation were laughing. Just remember to leave your checkbook at home! There are incredible cars, auctions, collectables, excitement, You would not believe it!

I thought it might be fun for the Marauder folks to try something different. If you go you will be hooked!

Jerry, that is a great idea. I am afraid to go, for fear of what might happen.:o All those pretty cars. I watch it and am amazed at the prices these vehicles go for. Have a great time.

Don't you think someone ought to enter a Marauder--all hot-rodded up--chrome under the hood--supercharged--intake hood---a REAL musclecar in every sense of the word--and let the world see what a great car this is--it NEEDS national publicity.. By the way, folks are trying to get me to take my newly restored, all original, 1969 Barracuda out there---it's a real beauty--that's a long way to go with no guarantee in a 128,000 mile car.--I'd really like to go, but don't think I'll make it...have fun , Jerry---take lots of pics. I'm planning on going. I went in 2005 and it was incredible. I've heard that for every car that makes it into the auction, they have 10 other applications.

Jerry,
It's one of my dreams to go to the Barrett Jackson auction. However, Jan will be too soon to afford it.
If you are keeping you're eye on them, I could sure make it to one of their FL auctions.
Thanx for the post.
Car guys (and girls) rule!

Your high dollar car shows and auctions frighten and scare me. I am but a simple caveman and cannot grasp the meaning of what would go on around me.

I'd love to go... but I'm scheduled for surgery to correct a double-hernia on January 17th.

Besides... my dream car is only a couple gallons of antifreeze and flash away away from coming to life!

Maybe in 2008....

I will in the mix here somewhere....

My plan will be to stay over on Luke AFB. I can get in a little cheaper there than in the Hampton. It's about a 40 minute drive on the beltway to get from Luke over to the B-J Site.

What type of rental are you going to have Jerry? Parking and traffic around the auction area can be a B*TCH. You going to have something big enough to pack some folks in?

For those who go, say "hello" to Tom Fritz for me, if you see him. Tom is a neighbor of mine. He'll be at the event selling paintings. He's an artist who paints pictures of muscle cars, Harleys, etc, with a nostalgic touch. BJ attendees have been bugging him to have a booth at the show for a few years so this year he decided to be there. See his work @ linky (http://www.fritzart.com/)

I'm here and ready. I just PM'd you MrsJones.

I live in Chandler and will be going to the auction on Friday. Planning on going to Pavilions Car show on Saturday and showing the Marauder. http://www.pavilionscarshow.com/history.html

Nothing formal, but I'm seeing if anyone wants to meet for dinner Thursday night at http://www.heartattackgrill.com/ Never been there since we just moved here and I don't think the wife and kids will go for it.

If someone has other plans in place thursday let me know, please. I'd love to tag along.

Bryan, I like your idea of the Heart Attack Grill and the Saturday Show. I'm gonna try to plan on both of them. Like you, Friday is my "for sure" day at the auction. If I don't get to see everything that I want, I may try to go back on Sat. However, I went 2 years ago, and Friday was plenty crowded for me. I can't imagine what the crowds are going to be like on Saturday this year. This thing just keeps growing!

Since you're in the host town, you have arranged beautiful weather for us, right? 2 years ago was when the big flood came on Wednesday during the week of the show. I remember seeing all therunning water as I landed on Thursday. I couldn't believe all of the auction cars sitting down in the mud. It was a disaster. I've heard they've done some things to fix it in case of rain, but it was a mess 2 years ago.

DeadVic

let me offer it up now, I'll be driving to the Auction Friday morning in order to be there when the "doors" open. I'll be taking my daily driver (Crown Vic) and can squeeze four others (maybe even 5) if anyone wants to car pool. I don't want to risk the MM out there in a parking lot. I plan to stay until my feet hurt and then another three or four hours more. (all day)

I live south, in Chandler, and will be passing where most of you are staying thursday night. If you want a ride, let me know.

cell is 480.276.3408. call me anytime from 6AM to 11PM.

And, if you want to get together for thursday evening dinner, call or PM me. Looking forward to it. Travel safe!

Gents-

Just spoke to MrJones and then to Jerry.

The TX boys are way behind schedule due to weather and will not be in town until sometime tomorrow.

Jerry is on track to be here at 3ish local time. I understand the FL contingency is also enroute via air at this time.

THURSDAY EVE
Jerry asked that I suggest some places to get a steak. So, here goes:

1. Stockyards Restaurant - A little pricey, but reviews are good. Since I'm new to town I've not been. http://local.yahoo.com/details?fr=dd-local-tl1&id=20007990&stx=stockyards+steak+house&csz=Phoenix+AZ&ed=Ygn50q160Sy.uY4HyyGW_PbKSYZ 813Oy1apKLk1ZoUp0KB_b9B8ArLjB. 2PDzTk87Sap72Jd_tAqxlQ4 If we're set on steak, this is what I'd recommend for location and what I think every MM owner likes, nostalga.

2. Again, I'd like to go here, we can have fun and it won't break the bank - http://www.heartattackgrill.com/ It's a little further from your hotel - probably 20 minutes or less if you wait for traffic to clear out, which is around 7PM.

3. If you want to play it safe, there are several Black Angus' nearby too.

I have kids soccer until 6PM tonight. Call my cell anytime to today. I'd be happy to play social coordinator for the evening. 480.276.3408

FRIDAY
I think we're meeting in the hotel parking lot, but we can nail it down tonight. I know I want to be there before 9AM to get some quality seating for the day.

Update from AZ.

Marauder'ers from all over the continent converged on AZ.

Jerry B and company, John Kuhn, Ronin77, Deadvic and me had a nice dinner at Stockyards, ummm beef.

Not sure if Ronin77 got scared having a minivan full of people pull a u-turn and follow him to the resturant. Certainly I would have been with Jerry's driving.
:help:

Off to the auction in a little while. I have a camera and luckily no checkbook.

Friday update, Jerry has shown almost all of his driver training skills but still has one more hubcap to put a dent in. WE saw a lot of money spent oncars today. It boggles the mind.
We ate dinner at the Pink Taco talked about cars and called it a night.

I finally made it home about 6 pm Monday night. We were able to skirt the weather on the way, and went through Amarillo and Albuquerque, even taking a side trip to the Grand Canyon. I'm really glad that we did, because my brother had never seen it, and it turned out that was the only high point of the trip for him. He got food poisoning from our lunch that day, and never even got to go to B-J on Sat.

Heck, even the car show at McDonald's was worth the drive out there. Sorry I missed you other guys, but thanks to Bryan for the hospitality and dinner Saturday night!

BJ is a heckuva scene. If you're a car guy, you've got to get out there and see it sometime.
