Haven't ever read anything here about this issue .... so here goes.

Over the past couple months, I have come out to the MM and noticed that the trunklid has been "popped". This is a fairly recent development because it didn't happen for the past 3 years. This has happened 3 or 4 times in the past 2 months and it just happened again on Saturday. Maybe I am somehow inadvertantly hitting the trunk button; but I really don't think so. It also seems rather unlikely that something would hit the button while inside my pocket. However, I will admit to setting off the "panic alarm" twice this way.

I guess my basic question(s) are: Has anybody else noticed this situation? I wonder if someone in my neighborhood has a "frequency" that happens to match my MM trunk? I know the chances of that are very slim .... but not totally impossible.

I guess the other explanation is that I am losing my mind and am doing this without even knowing it. ;)

My wife noticed at MVIV that her MM fob unlocked someone else's MM. She was rooting around in her purse for something and hit the door unlock button accidentally. Our MM was waaaaay out of range on the other side of the motel buildings. If you are married/attached and your wife/significant other has a set of MM keys in her purse they might be triggering accidentally.

Got any neighbors close by with Ford vehicles in their driveway? I was able t reprogram a fob left over from our 2001 Crown Vic LX to the MM, so I know the electronics must be pretty similar across a number of years of FLM products.

Just checked the back of the fob for the wife's 2000 Mustang GT - the code on the back is very similar to the one I am using for the MM. Bet I could reprogram it to the Maarauder also if I needed to. :)

I developed that problem with my old Focus after 4-5 years...turned out my trunk latch was wearing out. Might not be the case with you but it is worth consideration I think.

Just once. And I am pretty sure that it was the butten being pressed through my jeans pocket while I was working on something in basement.

It's all those lawn chairs and coolers ....they won't allow the trunk lid to close properly.

But then again, Dan could be right, only we call it pocket pool, in these parts.

I've had that happen a few times. It stopped happening when I put the keys in my briefcase at work instead of my pocket.
