Sat around waiting long enough for silver to get the dealers and took the hit. Took Delivery mid May, have 2400 miles already. (Commuting from South RI to S Boston..72miles one way) (After break-in miles 3500-4000 only plan to use the MM on Fridays or whatever for the commute..IF I can resist)

The black looks meaner, but I am sure even the most diehard of the buynowblackbuynowblacks have to admit the silver looks pretty good. AND the light interior which I wasn't thrilled with on the other cars looks like it was Made for the silver. It is a Great combination. I can post a couple of pictures if anyone cares/wants to see it.

And yes, I have the stupid smile on my face alot..running hard on interstates is one thing this car excels at, and something I have to do alot of. (But will HAVE to put the TCar into use doing it VERY soon...800-1000 miles a week...its just hard when they are sitting there side by side in the am..Marauder saying "DRIVE ME" and the Lincoln saying "let me sleep")..so I will start ...maybe tomorrow....ok..for sure NEXT week....

did the infinitys and sub as suggested by this site....Huge improvement...

Overall the car has Exceeded my expectations, It boggles my mind, (and pretty much everybody I show it to also) that this thing doesn't sell. Absolutely unreal. What is the biggest complaint? slow? SLOW? compared to WHAT??....did they run this thing on anything but a green car on a dead start dragstip? ..larger forces at work ..or..what did they think they were driving?..or ...just retards... OK I will stop there....well one last thing WHY was it not in ONE sport sedan comparison test?

What else....have seen a total of Two others out of the dealership, one was at the funeral home in Galesville, MD two mos ago, and another on the Braintree MA exit on 93 two weeks ago (big guy with a beard) some Rockford Ford.com sticker or something on the back. Thats it, not another one anywhere, and I am one of those morons who can pick out 90% of cars made in the past 60 years from one taillight at 1/2 a mile at 60 mph.

The LI/NY dealer I will reserve comment on for another week to let him redeem himself. But their..ahh..attention to detail needs work...I was just glad to get the thing away from them. Paid 29,600 plus TTL/Spoiler/Start ..32 or 3 or something out the door. Heard better deals but..for what the car is Sticker is still a bargain......Subsequent dealer here in MA has been Very enthusiastic and easy to work with.

Call to Dennis Reinhart is right around the corner, am considering the ecu/pcm removal and reprogram by him (I move around too much to have a local dealer and risk the chip thing screwing up warranty for someting stupid in some far away dealer. Bit more of a hassle but worth it for me. I know this topic has been beat to death and I have read the threads...BUT HAS anyone actually DONE the mid range gears (the 3.9s or whatever) ...with the correspnding chip burn? This car is a highway car. Off the line I am not too concerned with...mid range is where I use it....(and its pretty Good Already!!...but...!!..the 500.00 or whatever is ok

or do I just leave the 3.55s and wait a couple years and just do the blower!!

So anyway, thanks for all your help

Congratulations on the purchase. I too had a big stupid grin for a long time.

As to the gears, In my opinion, I would stick to the 3.55's Why spend the money on half measures.

Ditto to Mad...

Mod the car for the way you drive it. Do a ECM flash, Densos, stat, underdrive pulleys and Stallion TC. Keep the 3:55s, and you'll have one hell of a highway bandito. Your 30-50 and 60-80 romps will kick azz! Passing will feel like afterburners kicking in, and all your mods will be undercover.

BTW, Dennis is using Steeda "look-alike" pulleys now, average wrench won't know what he's looking at, and that would be the only external/visible tell. With no switch on a chip, you won't get the valet mode, or, the octane option, it will be 93 or better full time, but the pay off in smiles is worth it...IMHO.

Great post! Glad you are so happy. I love that Silver as well. Saw it for the first time in Charlotte (dok's car).

I'll give you my thoughts on gears...

I have 4:10s and they are perfect for this car. I do mostly highway cruising, as well. My car will not get a blower.

If I were to go with the supercharger...I'd probably stick with the 3:55s...

Just my thoughts

Keep your eyes open for my Black one as I'm on the way home (RI) next week!!! I too drive alot of highway (average 400 highway smiles a week), and all your points are well taken by me. In a way I'm glad for the lack of enthusiasm because when I take someone for a ride, they're always impressed. The first on ramp will do it to 'em. Get used to "that stupid smile" and welcome to sedan nirvana!

test drove 2 different Marauders before buying mine 1 month later. all 3 felt sluggish for 302 hp. now with 6,000 miles and 2 oil changes later (2,500 mi and 5,000 mi) the car RUNS IT *SS OFF !! pulls like a freight train above 4250 rpm, chirps 1st to 2nd gear and feels a lot faster. the tranny behaves now - no more early upshifts. i am totally stock. these engines need more time than others to break in. i was just reading car and driver (june 2003 page 145) long term test on the dodge ram truck with the 360 ci engine and at 30,000 miles it was 8 seconds faster to 100 mph than new (32.7 versus 40.5). i would have paid more if i knew it was this fast - don't tell the dealer !! LMAO

As far as Mods goes, this is the place to be!!! The MM can be dune to your personall choice!! And with the GREAT PEOPLE in this group you find what you need!! Dennis will be great help! I have only dun stage II flow masters to mine and what a differance! Not sure if has more horsepower or what. But she sounds like she looks!!! Ricer hunting is my hobby!!!!!! Look what grampa's can doo!!!!!!!!!

A quick question. I was stationed at FT Devens in 89-91. Just down the road in Ayer was a small Deli (Rues) I think that how it was spelled. Do you know if its still their?? Best deep fried mushrooms I ever Had!!!!!!!

Enjoy you MM!!!!

Gotta love the car! Congrats on the Silver Surfer! I got my Blue 2weeks ago....and man it is great...I have about 900 miles on it...and I can feel the engine getting smoother and stronger....especially the last 100 miles....

I have not WOT yet....and have kept the RPMS at about 3500 or less....trying to hold out on that until about 1,000 or 1,500 miles...then oil change and off to the races....I think I am going to head up to Dennis's at the end of the month.....he just wants to get his hands on another blue one!

The MM is great car....would be nice for driving on a nice fall day in the NE. Spent 5 years in Providence...used to go to Cambridge, Boston, etc....beautiful country....even got to see Bird play in the Garden 5 times before he retired....

Those were the days...enjoy the sweet ride......

LCpl:

Congrats on the new ride! I'm also considering a blower (I'm still 100% stock), and after speaking with Trilogy's installer, he still recommended the stock torque converter because he said they had enough trouble keeping the tires from spinning already. I just assumed that the stock 3.55 rear end would be appropriate as well with a blower installed (which all of you seem to agree with, yes?).

Right now, I'm holding off on all mods until I can decide on a blower, although I'm VERY interested in ordering and installing Dennis' new header/exhaust hit BEFORE I get the blower installed--just so that when I finally DO get the blower in, it'll run at full tilt from the get go.

But if in the interim I decide to install Dennis' chip, I too was planning to go the "EEC program" route (instead of the add-on chip) to avoid any warranty hassles (I'd have to buy a second EEC and ship it to him since I live so far from Dennis' shop).

LCpl, congrats on your new ride and welcome to our humble lil Marauder home on the net. Your right about the Silver/flint color combo. It is quite striking. Your car will keep getting better and better with mileage. It seems to take about 5k miles to loosen up. Sarge and the others have already given you great advice so I won't double up on it. Again enjoy the car and keep coming back here amongst the others who all still have grins as well.

Appreciate all the responses....

I will take a couple pictures this weekend if it ever clears up... I am in Wickford RI ..would be great if anybody else is around, only been here 3 wks or so, it does seem to be a nice area. Patrick, not familiar with Ft Devens, although I was (or my stuff was) at Pendleton during that time period.

Will leave the 3.55s and go with the rest of the package..interesting that you recommend the convertor and pulleys for my usage ...but given the sources I guess I will do that next! Has anyone (other than poor MAD 3R..Ohhh that Really sux) run into a downside with the underdrives? running hot in traffic? poor a/c etc?....if not..hmm..have to slip those and the t/c past the wife somehow.... As for a shop to do the work, a reference would be good if anyone has one, or that may be a Dennis question.....
