They got my short block together today, heads should have been on this afternoon but I couldn't hang around to see any more...

If I had more time I would have got them to stick the head studs in the block. Here's the bottom with the DSS main girdle installed. It required 2 modifications: one at the dipstick hole to clear the dipstick tube and another at the rear main to clear the aftermarket oil pan.

Here it is before the girdle:

Some people claim the stroker kit pulls the skirts out of the bottom of the cylinder too far, this liiks ok to me:

I won't get to see it for over a week, but the heads, chains, oil pump, etc will be on it then. I'll shoot a few pics then and they'll button it up for me. Should be finished about Dec 12th.

Get with it! I figure posting these pics will help provide incentive for some of the other work-in-progress buildups to get finished.

And more mods to the already modified Canton windage tray:

Almost too purty to hide with all those covers. I'll be picking it up tomorrow.

Brian, it's beautiful. Congratulations on a superb job. Now I'm wondering if Joe Walsh's "Built Motor" is basically the same thing. Thanks for sharing the photos. :high5:

One piece of advice... ditch the cast crank trigger wheel, they crack. Get the Ford stamped steel one, and you'll need the matching lower timing gear to go with it.

That is a billet one. And it has been cryo treated too. I got the lower gears to match it. And they're both cryo treated and REM polished. As well as all the rest of the gears, sprockets, and chains.

But thanks for the advice, took a sharp eye to notice.

Well, I DO do this for a living ;).

Sounds like you got the good stuff on there then.

BTW, I don't think I've commented on any of your threads, but I have been following them. I am very impressed with your build, and it's nice to see someone actually going to these lengths (coatings, cryo, etc).

Thanks. Kind of overboard, but somebody's got to be first...
