I've only owned my MM for a couple of months. It runs fine. (awesome) but I noticed when my wife started it up the other day that it had a little bit of lite oil smoke from the drivers side tailpipe. It only has 30,000 miles on it and as far as I know Me and the other owner have used only Mobile Synthetic oil in it. The car does not smoke while driving it (I checked) just on the start up. The car runs too good to have any major problems. please tell me this is nothing major!!!!!!!!!!!!?????????:hel p: :bigcry:

The valve seals are a likely cause.
This is quite common.

First off, don't panic...it actually quite common in the DOHC. Mine doesn't doesn't do it, but many do and it doesn't hurt anything. If it's still under warranty, see if the dealer will cover replacing the driver's side head. I understand there's a revised casting.

Mine doesn't always get started daily. Sometimes weeks apart. But back on the daily starts, it has always blown a small bit of smoke that quickly dissipates upon idle.

I wouldn't worry.;)

Don't worry about it. It's not a big deal as it is. Go see if the dealer will give you a new hear, if not no harm.

Well that does make me feel better.
However when the dealer sees the Trilogy sitting on top I doubt that he will want to do anything with it. But thanks for alleviating my fears. I love this forum.

Yep, it's no big deal. I have 58k on mine and it puffs a bit of smoke here and there. She still runs great. Btw, theres a ton of threads on this if you want to dig around.

Yes, no big deal if it's a little puff of smoke, my Cobra does it occasionally and the Marauder a bit more often.

We have a guy in our local SVTOA chapter that has a 96 Cobra with over 580000km on it, original motor, 2nd water pump, 3rd transmission. He drives it everywhere, races it in several different events; autoX, drag, roadcourse, etc. Every time I see it at our track day it would puff blue smoke during shifts for the first 3 laps, then everything would seal up and it would run like a champ.

I'm going to hit some other sites and see if there are any recalls and if there are....I will hit up my dealership. There is one dealer ship that races a Mach1 that is supercharged, hopefully he will see things my way, but I won't hold my breath. Again thanks for all the responses this forum is great. I used to haunt the Corral.net forums, but there was always too much testosterone in the air. (young kids) I'm 50 and I don't need that, just good information from good people who have each others best intrest in mind. Thanks again.

If ya wanna see a "Smoke Show".....

Start it up cold and let it run about 30 seconds in "Open Loop" then shut it down and start it a couple hours later!!!:argue: Every CV I have had and my Marauder have done the BIG smoke thing under these condidtions.

Mine does the small puffs of smoke on cool mornings (below 45*) and has done it every once in awhile since new but it uses NO OIL between 5K mile oil changes......Go figure??

Have it checked over but I don't think you need to be concerned unless you have the ole "Left Bank Ticking"!!:mad2:

Mine blew a big cloud only once since I have owned it, but it was like described above. Started up to move it out of driveway onto street so it ran for maybe a minute then shu it off. Came out a little bit later to go to the store and POOF big cloud of smoke. Freaked me out till I read about it here. Have not seen it again, probably because it gets driven every day. Just rolled apst 36000 miles recently.
