I have been thinking about relocateing the resevoir to make more room for a custom air box for my JLT. I think I found the perfect doner. 2001 Lincoln Town Car has the wiper resevoir on the pasenger side fender by the firewall. I know it's the same place as most supercharged cars put the intercooler water resevoir but I'm not supercharged and with two kids in private school I doubt I ever will be.

Thats funny.
Seneca and I were talking about doing that on his Procharged MM. It's kind of tight in there by the air filter and washer tank.
We were looking at relocating the OEM tank to the driver side wheel well. We did not spend any time on the idea. It was realy just a brainstorm idea for another day.

I was wondering if it was possible to relocate the air pump in order to make room for a ram air scoop from the wheelwell area or front bumper.
Can't say i have ever looked under air box to investigate
This past summer I enclosed my JLT with a "soft" air box (read: mock-up) to compare air temps between grille area, engine bay and inside the air box.
The grille area temp was 106 degrees using the on board sensor. The engine bay temp was 140+ degrees as measured from the outside wall of the air box. Inside the mock up air box the temp was 115 degrees. I believe the temps inside the box would have been lower if a reflective metal was used.
Instead my mock up probably absorbed some of the engine bay heat.
The washer reservoir was temporarily removed during this experiment.
The construction of the box sealed all air from entering except from the two cut outs on the radiator bulkhead.
Afterwards I removed the box because it was not cosmetically pleasing.
Result: the car did run better in the evenings with the box than without the box. Therefore, an enclosed air box will be of some benefit.
Later, I made another mock-up box this time leaving the washer reservoir installed. The box was not as sealed as the first one since I had to fashion it around the reservoir but the results were the same.
So a completely sealed air box doesn't work any better that one that is not completely sealed on the bottom aft and fender well side (away from engine radiation).
I say all this because it may save you the effort of relocating the reservoir without any performance benefit. Cosmetically it's a different story.
FWIW.

It's more of a cosmetic thing.

I'd like to see a different washer reservoir setup to allow more room for an airbox too. A donor tank wouldn't need to be nearly as big as the stock one for me since my Marauder doesn't see bad weather unless she gets stuck out in it. Sounds like a good winter project to me.

All 98+ Town Cars use that tank, BigCars, so you can find it easily.

I need to plan a yard day when I take some time over christmas. My list now includes:
1 1999 - 2000 AMMX police driveshaft
2 1998 Towncar washer resevoir
3 Some new hardware for the plastic part over the headlights (lost one)

I've already done this mod myself with better than great results. Cosmetically great and functionally great too. Mine has been finished now for 6 months and works perfect. Here's the link from my earlier post.
