Guys,
We're finally progressing on the 2003 CV 1000 hp project. I'm having 3D renderings of the car done right now and those will be done in 2 weeks (I'll be sure to post them). The car MUST be done by April. There are several different things that must be done:
Engine built
Engine and drivetrain installed
Suspension installed
Paint job
Interior work (including audio system)
There is simply too much work to do it in stages. All of the work has to be done simultaneously. I had come up with the plan of buying a rolling chassis, sending it to the powdercoaters, and giving it to the engine/drivetrain/suspension installation shop. They would install as much as possible without having the body. At the same time, the engine will be built at the engine builders, the paint job will be done, and then the car will go to the interior/audio shop.
I have never torn down a Crown Vic and would appreciate input and some questions answered.
1. What can and what cannot be installed on the frame without having anything else present? A list of even the most basic things would help (i.e. start with brake lines!) Can a 351W be installed without having the body present, or is fitment very tight?
2. What is the estimated time for an experienced shop to do a frame swap, once the performance frame is completed?
3. What is the best engine to swap in there - what fits best? I know this a subjective question, but suggestions are welcome. Whatever we get, I'm throwing an F2R Procharger on it and want to make close to 1000 horsepower, so I want a bulletproof block. I'm looking for what is easiest to fit in the engine bay, to make accessories work with, and easiest to make a ton of power with.
Thanks again - any input would be appreciated.
