Guys,

We're finally progressing on the 2003 CV 1000 hp project. I'm having 3D renderings of the car done right now and those will be done in 2 weeks (I'll be sure to post them). The car MUST be done by April. There are several different things that must be done:

Engine built
Engine and drivetrain installed
Suspension installed
Paint job
Interior work (including audio system)

There is simply too much work to do it in stages. All of the work has to be done simultaneously. I had come up with the plan of buying a rolling chassis, sending it to the powdercoaters, and giving it to the engine/drivetrain/suspension installation shop. They would install as much as possible without having the body. At the same time, the engine will be built at the engine builders, the paint job will be done, and then the car will go to the interior/audio shop.

I have never torn down a Crown Vic and would appreciate input and some questions answered.

1. What can and what cannot be installed on the frame without having anything else present? A list of even the most basic things would help (i.e. start with brake lines!) Can a 351W be installed without having the body present, or is fitment very tight?

2. What is the estimated time for an experienced shop to do a frame swap, once the performance frame is completed?

3. What is the best engine to swap in there - what fits best? I know this a subjective question, but suggestions are welcome. Whatever we get, I'm throwing an F2R Procharger on it and want to make close to 1000 horsepower, so I want a bulletproof block. I'm looking for what is easiest to fit in the engine bay, to make accessories work with, and easiest to make a ton of power with.

Thanks again - any input would be appreciated.

1000HP at the Crank or Wheels?

Pick one... easiest to fit and have accessories to work, or easiest to make a ton of power with.

BTW - I think a 5.4L will fit. Check with Power Surge.

1000 at the crank. Fit vs. power...I know I'm going to have to make a compromise in both directions. I'm looking for a solution that is a compromise between the two.

Sound like a cool project, you must have a FAT wallet to do a project like that. Go to KarKraft.com and buy the new 500hp Shelby engine or the Ford GT engine, they will both hold up to 1000hp! They should be sort of easier to put in the car than the 351 or other older style engine.

What about the 5.0 cammer engine from FRPP?

Anyone know the limitations of the engine?

Why not a BBF pushrod? I believe the size is smaller or comparable to the 4V 4.6.

The Cammer motor is awesome.....

One thing to remember though.... most FFRP "Cammer" motors are setup for racing and N/A configuration...
so you will have pistons setup for 11.5:1 compression Ratio...
If you plan to strap a Procharger to it that "may" be a bit much....

Do you plan to run pump gas or race fuel....?

I think a new Ford GT motor would attract the most attention and give huge horsepower numbers... 5.4L Dohc Supercharged...... Hell Ya...... 550horsepower in stock configuration... now put on your Procharger and tune it... WOW
I've seen people modding them to 1500rwhp....

VT who built my engine can build you on that can hold that power without issue, there was a car there the other day that they were doing.... thing put down alot of power... top secret right now but 1000 at the crank is no big deal if you get the right motor build.

Follow Joe who owns the most insane GT I've ever seen. He's pushing 1450 to the rear wheels.

TMF lifted the entire body off the frame for his back-halving project. He removed the front clip and rocker trim, broke the electrical connectors to the body, disconnected the steering linkage, removed the body bolts and up the sheetmetal went and the rolling frame with engine, tranny and all came rolling out from underneath it. There were a few other minor points of connection like the emergency brake line, but I was surprised how easy it was to separate the body from frame. What a sight!

I've heard nothing but good things about Alternative Auto www.alternativeauto.com and Boss 330 Racing http://www.boss330racing.com/ Boss 330 racing has been carbing 4V 5.4s lately.

Also, try www.payr.com for plastic mock up engines. I suggest getting one of these for the body, chassis build while the engine is getting built. They have 4V 4.6s long blocks if you decide to go that way (image below).

Great suggestions, everyone...keep them coming.

One thing complicates things a bit...the engine is going to be powered by a hydrogen/gasoline blend...

John,

Thanks for the offer, but everything is on a sponsorship basis. The cost of this project would be far north of a hundred grand without it.

If you want to go modular go with the ford gt motor. Dont use the shelby cause itll blow at around 600. They have cracked I beam powdered metal rods. The only one that didnt blow is the kenne bell car for some reason.

You forgot the one that got to te 9s the other day too, and the 4 or 5 others that they have, or the gaggles getting to 600 on a tune and pulley...
