Hey all,

The fianceé and I will be travelling to Edmonton to check out "The Mall" for some Christmas shopping. Anything else we should visit while we're there? We'll probably head south to Calgary and Banff on the way home.

Oh Dude! You're going to risk going *there* this time of year? Wear hockey pads, and be sure to bring some sort of GPS or a Shurpa so you can find your car again.

Seriously. Over 50,000 parking spots on 4 levels.

If it were a different time of year, Id say go to Banff via Jasper, but that's too hard this time of year.

Bring a tent, hide cash, and have fun!

Hmm...thanks for the tips, guys. She's gonna be in shopping heaven, I'll just try and get out without killing someone. I'm not much of a shopper. In and out, that's my motto.

Just drop her off at the mall and go to Mopac, it's just up the road. http://www.mopacautosupply.com/main.html

One place to go for food is Original Joe's, although it's a bit out of the way and tricky to find. The food is good, portions are filling, service is sometimes a little slow (but not incompetent like many other resturants in the city), and an order of nachos will feed 3 hungry people. http://www.edmontondining.com/page.php?PageID=157&PTEdit=edit&establishmentid=795&establishmenttypeid=3&neighborhoodid=1&intersectionid=68

If you're stuck in the mall go to The Old Spagetti Factory, the food's not too bad. There's a cool little shop that sells some unique die casts near the HMV(lower floor I think), and don't forget to go to the Wild West shooting range and fire off a few rounds from a Desert Eagle (great shopping stress relief, you'll need it).

Definitely go there! You don't need a firearms permit or really any experience, and you can try just about any handgun legal in Canada. It's on the West side of the mall.

On that side of the mall, downstairs near the Hotel (SW) there is a good little coffee shop, where you can sit and sip coffee and watch all the pretty women walk by too.

There is another place (used to be called 'Reds') just above Burbon Street too. Decent burgers, and lots of games. Bowl a round or 2, play some pool. Reeelaaax. :)

Hey all,

Thanks for the advice! I'll have to check out the shooting range. We'll be postponing our Edmonton trip 'til after the New Year. She knows that I won't enjoy walking around in a crowded mall for very long.
