On my 1994 Crown (OBD I, EEC-IV), I can run a cylinder balance test with a combination of brake/steering wheel turns and wide open throttle hits. Runs four different tests, each with a higher RPM.

Can this be done on the OBDII's in the MM or other OBDII panther cars?

When complete, it reports "OK" back to me I get a comfortable feeling the old thing is still good. But I don't have a clue exactly what a failure would mean, and what the cylinder balance test is testing besides the balance. Anyone know what exactly it proves out?

Short answer: No, not on OBDII Fords - at least not as a function of the PCM.
I don't have time to explain the cylinder balance process now. I'll get back to you this weekend.

Gerry,
That's not exactly correct, it's only partially correct and partially wrong! It is a general summation of the process. If you need the whole story, PM me and I'll write it up for you!
