:alone: Took the to dlr for routine service(warranty, etc). Among the items was radiator flush. Sometime ago I put red GM anti freeze (af). (thats what Ihad). The dlr said that this af causes pitting in engine and allows the engine to run hotter than the Foed recommended af. I told to flush it as per his advice. Is that true??
Also, they put 39mls on the car. When I asked why, they said, "We had to "BURP" the car so we drove it out to US 27 for 17 mls or so and back."
IS THAT TRUE??
I burped my 85 GT in my drive way. Please give me your input MM members
Thanks
Dealers have a tool that uses vacuum to burp the cooling system in the shop.

Yup. They just wanted to go for a ride. Kick some ass. I specificly tell dealerships or anywhere I take my car to be serviced its not to leave their property without me being in the car. Them taking your car off their property without your permission is actually a liability big time and in my book theft. One time I took my mustang in for an alignment and they took it for a "test drive" after I'd specificaly told them not to drive the car. Sitting in the waiting room reading 4 month old motor trends I hear my car fire up and I see it drive away. I thought I was gona leave in the back of a squad car I was so pissed. Then I heard em romp on it after the car was out of site of the shop. Oh I was furious....

I remember seeing a guys sig on svtperformance.com that he was a director of something or another at World Ford Kendall. I can't find him, but if you find him you might talk to him and that might be the next dealer to try for any future issues.

I will contacting Ford Customer Service on Monday with this 39 mile issue and the hood incident. I get the car tomorrow and I will inspect it with a fine tooth comb (ah, sorta). I am tired of the dishonesty.

it's a dealer problem, you might also contact the BBB or local Chamber of Commerce

Isn't this the second Miami area dealer issue in the last few weeks?

I have had several dealerships, etc. do that with my cars as well... I can remember when I got my performance exhaust done on my Eclipse, then when they took it out of the shop, they decided to bring it for a drive on Westnedge in kzoo... Next thing I hear is the fart can reving, and the tires squeeling... Granite I didn't mind them bringing it out for "Routine checkup", but you don't treat someone's car that way, especially not a low 12 sec. car...
As far as "Burping" your system, you can do that in the comfort of the shop in about 15 min., or whenever the thermostat actually opens... Some people need to use there brains these days... In all honesty, I think it was there "Test Drive" they "HAD" to perform...

This is why I try to do as much on the car myself. Warranty? We don't need no stinkin warranty!

Same here! Plus I have learned that most mechanics rely too much on power tools. Two of the pan bolts were stripped on the grand marquia trans pan most likeley from air tools.

NO, NO this is the same dealer that destroyed my hood in another thread I had posted. This same dealer added insult to injury by driving the 39 miles for a burping.
BTW, I have never had any real good experience with any US car mfg.dealer. I have had average or fair dealings but not one where I can recommend some one. NOpe, not yet any how.
