Post your "Trilogy install" links please...

A post in another thread reminded me of this.

I know a lot of guys have started threads which chronicle their Trilogy installation, sometimes with pictures included, and I would love to see some of them. I will most likely install Trilogy #150 in my garage (with the help of JohnE, WChain, and my friend Don, who is an ASE Master Mechanic) and I would appreciate any help I can get.

Here's an excellent one I have saved in My Favorites. It's Rider90's installation of Trilogy #121 (http://www.mercurymarauder.net/forums/showthread.php?t=25439&highlight=Trilogy). By the way, GREAT job, Jason!

I'd like to find time to go to Houston, to meet the local Marauder guys and catch up with Wes, finally. Someday...

Just some quick notes, pay special attention to how I worked with the EGR-manifold nut. It can be a PITA if you attempt that step without some instruction, I think I pulled it off with the least amount of side-work. If I had to do it all over again I would have replaced both coolant temperature sensors with new Motorcraft ones. The "Wells" sensor I got from Autozone was junk, gave me the wrong reading, and to replace them you have to drain the coolant. Might as well do it while you're in there IMHO.

I think you'll be fine during the install with the team you have but my number is on my detailing site should you have any questions, day or night, my friend. Good luck! Your tires will HATE you for this :lol:

With 2-3 people with skills it will be a snap. Just take care of the EGR nut prior to starting the install:help:

Here's the one for #112. It took my longer than it should've, looking back I recall it very well, there were atleast 2 days where I did almost no work. It was COLD!

So if you're doing it during the winter, I hope you have a heated garage! I found the cold really slowed me down, also there are a few tasks that are much easier with a second set of hands to help hold things.

2-3 good people could knock it out in a weekends time.

Let me know when you are going to do it...I would like to be there for the install....I am slightly mechanical and can run and get food and adult beverages like nobodies business....Besides I would like to meet you guys....only weekends work for me though...and I can take Wes up on his invite to crash at his place....

I'll take you up on that! Assuming all goes as planned, we should be looking toward an install in mid to late January, possibly in February. The hardest thing will be trying to figure out a weekend where it works for all of us, but I'm sure we can find one with enough advance notice.

BTW for the EGR tube you need a 1 and 1/16's wrench (I believe). I didn't have one in this size (I had 1" and 1 and 1/8") so I had to buy one.

Also you will need metric hex-head SOCKETS (so you can use a torque wrench). I got bot Metric and SAE hex head sockets from Harbor Freight. This allows you to accurately tourqe the hex/allen bolts. I think you only need Metric sizes for those...

Finally you need an inch/lb torque wrench as well.

If I can add to this, soak the EGR tube fittings overnight with something like PB Blaster ( that's what I used).
Also, get yourself a supply of anti-seize, Zack is right, it's a big help down the road.

Look for all the things you can pre-assemble and pre-assemble them.
Take pictures along the way, it can help.

You really should remove the wiper motor and all that stuff. It makes alot of room. (look at Jason's thread).

The only things I can think of in the area of that time frame is my requalification and CHL at the end of January, and my Birthday in January but thats no big deal...I can miss that. After 30 its just another day.:D
