This is something I think everyone should take a look at.....

I was cleaning out my trunk and removed the organizer. Vacumed up and took a look under the carpet kit. To my surprize I found about 1 quart of water in a groove in the front portion of the trunk well.

The carpet seperates in the corner of the bottom and the rise to where the spare sits. Peek in there and see what you see... Best keep after it. I think there is potential for rust to begin and cause some damage....

Just a thought

Did you figure out where it seeped in Joe?

I may can tell you......around the rear widow.....I'll bet!!

Mine was leaking in the passenger side of the trunk...leaking from under the lip!! It is doubled there and after screwing with it for a couple months I decided to lift the molding around the side of the rear glass and there was a spot where it WAS NOT SEALED!!!:mad2: :argue:

I took a small nozzle on a tube of black silicone and ran a bead the entire length of the side of the rear window and.....VOILA....Problem fixed!!

I'll bet the assembly line had a glitch in it and several cars got out with leaks?? Sorry I didn't mention this before but I figured it was just mine....and it still may be just mine but it's worth a check if you have water in the trunk!!

Other big place to watch is the piece of the rear fender just in front of the tire. Mud seems to collect there, and mud tends to hold moisture where ever it sits. I'll check my trunk now.

Honestly guys, I think it falls in from the trim on the back of the trunk when opened after washing or rain. It drips, drips, drips when opened...

I think it just collects over time.

There has got to be a way to avoid it, but 'til I figure it out, I'll have to keep sopping it up...

Don't know how it could leak in from window or fender. The weather stripping is continuous all around the trunk lid. I find no evidence of water running from anywhere. It must just drip in when opened.

Don't know if it is wise to seal up the trim and weep holes on the rear face of the trunk lid..

Only way to diagnose it is to get in the trunk and have an assistant run a hose on low pressure over the area while you are in the trunk with a flashlite...Helps to remove as much of the carpet as you can...Thats how L/M tought me....

Of all the design issues I have encountered with "Panther Platform" cars the DAMN truck lid dripping is the most aggrevating!!!!:argue: I lift it about half way and shake it several times and it still drips a little....Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr!!!!! :mad2:

Other than that they are lovely cars!!!:cool4:
