Anyone have photos/blueprints (or willing to spend time slicing one open) of the baffling inside the stock mufflers?

My goal is to have full factory exhaust with capability to go louder/mufflerless at will (grin factor).<o:p></o:p>

I may have access to good deal on cutouts. My thoughts are, Y the exhaust prior to muffler. Depending on baffling inside the muffler, run the cutout into the muffler (next to existing input). I'm hoping that there is a free flow to output of muffler down that side. This way my exhaust and sound will always flow out the tips and I can quiet the ride when needed (I like the factory exhaust for quiet ride and sinister sound when needed).<o:p></o:p>

why does it have to go through the muffler? why not just route a pipe around the muffler with a cutout in it, and dump it back into the factory exhaust after the muffler...

This seems to be the easier and more economic.

Thought about that, would like to minimize weight on hangers, but routing around muffler was last choice.

the hangers will be fine. your not adding that much more weight.
