So, when i put the car in reverse and begin to back up and apply the brakes, it get a very loud clunk from the rear end. The clunk is there only when I apply the brakes, and its every time I hit the brakes in reverse. I dont get any clunk while moving forward, just in reverse.

Any ideas? Bad Bushing?

Either the emergency drum brakes or the rear disc brakes would be a good starting point to check for anything loose or worn.

I had that problem until I took the body out of the trunk. Silly me! :P

- something loose in the Suspension?
- a universal joint?
- rear brake problem?
- the noise may be from somewhere else, being telegraphed so it sounds like it is coming from the rear end

Loose brake caliper. Have the sound checked out immediatly.

I had a caliper bracket bolt come out of my explorer. When I applied the brake the caliper grab'd the rotor then was thrown forward. Right into the wheel shattering it and destroying the tire.

That was a horrible day. I even had clients ridding around with me. :fire:
