Would all of you that have upgraded the stereo system in your Marauder take a minute and just give the specifics as to what you upgraded (radio, speakers, amp, subwoofer). It would be greatly appreciated if you could give details, such as brand, size, and part number if possible. As you know, this topic has been talked about on here...but im hoping we can get a comprehensive list of good specific details to help the rest of us decide what to do. There are a lot of conflicting details on previous posts, such as speaker size, subwoofer size, 1 1/2 or 2 din radio size etc. Please post facts that you are sure about so we have a resource to draw from....I know you will all contribute, which is why I love this forum....thanks in advance.

Dave:
All I've done are the speakers; Infinity 5752cf all around. They extend the high end and have a smoother midrange, but I think they may have been discontinued. The 6802cf is supposed to be the replacement. I have no problem with the factory head or sub...

upgrade the front 6x8 speakers and the rear 6x8 speakers 1st. use polypropelyne for better weather protection and at least 2 way - preferably 3 way for better musical detail. check your rear sub for the foam shipping insert, sometimes they are NOT removed. if the sub is muffled, it is most likely in there. replacing the headunit will give more features but will not be compatable with the oem factory trunk mounted cd changer (if you have that option). steering wheel remote buttons can be used with a pac adapter with headunits that have a remote.

Dave,
I just relaced all four speakers with the Infinity Reference 6802cf's.
Crutchfield.com will give you mounting specs and radio sizes that will fit your MM.
I had ordered Polk Ex368 speakers and Dynamat from Crutchfield on sale for $69 but the speakers were not in stock. They sent the Dynamat along with complete instructions on how to remove the radio and speakers as well as speaker wire connectors to fit the stock wiring. Sub and amp instructions were not included.
I then checked on the infinity 6802's but they were $99 dollars a pair. I had listened to the Polk's and Infinity's at the local circuit City and they sounded very similar.
I found the infinity's on E-bay for $56 bucks a pair with $15 shipping for a total of $127 for both pair with no taxes......HELLLO
I think there are more available on E-bay from the same seller....excellent service from them....just search 6802cf and there will be several.
Anyway did the install and with some slight modiications (drilled two new holes for front and used shorter screws) and (only used three holes in the rear per speaker...not real happy with that but plenty secure and no problem).
The instructions for the front were fine, the instructions for the rear were for the 300A model with rear spkr grilles...much easier than the 300B's which makes you remove the rear seat ...stilll not that big of a deal.
The infinity's have a rotating tweeter which allows you to aim the front away from the dash and toward the passenger and driver, nice feature.
They sound much cleaner and the high's are way better than the stock speakers, The sub seems to compliment them well.
There seems to be differences of opinions here on MM.net on the sub foam insert. I checked it out and it appeared to have been made specifically for that spkr so I did not remove it.
The low frequency range of the subwoofer should not be affected by a porous 1 in. piece of foam. Keep in mind this is a small 6 3/4" sub , if the bass is adjusted correctly the sub compliments the spkrs nicely,if the volume is high and the bass is adjusted all the way up it will overwork the sub. If you are going to thump hip-hop music at loud volumes you will probably need a bigger sub.
Just my opinion, I have been upgrading my vehicle spkrs since about 1977 and if you enjoy your tunes it is well worth the effort.
The Dynamat seems to improve and clean up the sound as well. Good luck with the upgrade.

I have already done the speakers.... I have added Alpine Type-R's 5x7 front and rear, that has made a huge difference. But now it seems that the sub can't keep up. Has anybody replaced thier sub with the factory head unit? If speaker upgrade is step 1, I think sub upgrade should be step 2.

Search it out (I am too lazy and too tired). Black Badger (Charlie) did his and he did a nice job too. I am pretty sure he put up a few posts. If you can't find it, PM me and I'll let you have his phone number and you can call him. I am sure he won't mind.
