Just when we may have thought the youth of our world had been completely taken over by small, neon lit, winged monsters a few glimmers of hope shine through. I wanted to pass on a couple of interactions I have had in the last couple of weeks. First, I was walking to a blood donor clinic next to a grade school playground, when I heard a tiny voice say "excuse me sir...excuse me sir..." it took me a while to respond because I am not used to hearing such politeness in todays world. When I finally clued in, I turned to see this young boy probably no more than about 9 or 10 years old hanging over the playground fence. He pointed to the Marauder and said...boy your car is really cool!! I said thanks and walked away with a silly grin on my face...Secondly, at our local Credit Union (a type of bank here in Canada) I was speaking to my favourite loans officer, who is an absolute motor head, and she was telling me the story of coming home and seeing her 17 year old son and a few of his friends debating whether I had put an aftermarket exhaust on the Marauder because it sounded so different and so good (the JLT CAI affect). When I laughed she said that the Marauder is always the topic of disussion at the dinner table when it comes to these kids. So never fear, just when you think we have lost our youth to the clutches of the evil import empire forever, a small hole in the armour appears.

Trust me, some of us get older, but occasionally we're still in high school. I was "forced" to lay two long patches of rubber down on my fathers newly sealed asphalt driveway. We laughed about it later. I told him to consider it a 30th anniversary of my drivers license. He just said "Yea, still a dumb kid" :)

Hehe ... memories.

I had a car long before I was technically old enough to drive & had done many a regular burnout, as well as quite a few power braking sessions that would be right at home in a BillyG video.

One day when the miserable old nooosey lady next door gave me dirty looks after a few burnouts up & down the driveway ... I felt it was only right to give her the deluxe smoke show & proceeded to power brake those 455 cubes for a good three minutes straight. I think the old battleaxe went around the front - knocked on the door & told me mother ... as she was at the back door when the smoke cleared & she was not a happy camper.

After parking the car ... I realized the LR tire had been over-top our garden hose during my lil' smoke show & part of it now looked like it had been put thru a wood chipper.

Ooops :shake:

It was a decent hose(emphasis on was). It was the best rubber Craftsman hose you could buy, & at the time I believe they had a lifetime warranty on them.

I actually managed to get the hose replaced at no cost ... how the hell I talked my way out of that one I'll never know.

I'm not even 21 yet! But glad to hear about the positive experiences.

The youngsters on this board give me a glimmer of hope for the future.

Sometimes I think that just opening the door to the MM and sliding into the driver's seat knocks 10 years off. :D

My youngest son (now 23) is the one who continuously pushed me until I got the Marauder. He saw it first in the magazine articles. Without his constant pestering of ---- "you know you REALLY want one", I probably wouldn't have made the jump. The rest is history and I am really glad he pushed me. :bows:
