Yeah, the title says it all - law school sucks. Actually, I sorta enjoy it. But in a sick and twisted way.
I honestly think this is just a bunch of bullcorn, like some kind of fraternity hazing rituals they put us through or something. (Been there, done that, too. Sigma Phi Epsilon, many years ago!) I keep thinking when it comes time to graduate - three years from now - there will be a room full of lawyers and judges, with punch and cake, and they'll flip the lights on and yell, "Surprise! You made it! Hahahaha! Suckers! Now we teach you the 'secret handshake!'"
I sure hope it's worth the $100,000 or so it's costing me.

Truthfully, I made a great career out of being a lawyer.
Before I entered law school, I worked as a glazier (glass and mirrors) to get the dough together to go and then I worked in a liquor store and law firm to keep myself in law school. Basically, I worked and went to school full time. Unfortunately, I found myself in the hospital during my third year of law school which confirmed my feelings. Law school is nothing but a great big hazing as 'Vic said he thinks it is. I stopped going to school and just took my exams. Viola! I had my best semesters ever and no one ever cared that I wasn't in class.
If I had to do it all over again, I would skip law school, take the money I spent, invest it in a business and just work my ass off like I did as an attorney. The results would have been the same. You can be as successful as you make yourself. It's all about hard work.

If law schools in the US are like the one's in Canada, you will get a lot of useless, political / ideological nonsense. If you have the misfortune to take a course like the "Marxist perspective on Property Law" suggest to the professor that really isn't law school just a glorified trade school? You may get an interesting reaction. You will find that citing a dissenting judgment to a trial judge will get you absolutely nowhere 99 times out of 100, notwithstanding that your professor may have gone on for weeks about it when you were in school. You will learn more about law and how to be a lawyer when you're in practice, so in a sense LS is a protracted initiation ritual. It's ultimately worth it, in my view as it can be a rewarding career. Martyo has it right....success at anything requires hard work. Good luck
