the flap is located on that sheet of plastic that the windshield wipers and the wiper motor is mounted to. What does this flap do and what would happen if I rip it out in a fit of blind rage? http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a161/Black03Marauder/rubberflap.jpg

this is a shot from the side after I unscrewed and lifted up the sheet of plastic that holds the wiper motor and the wiper arms

this pic is from behind the sheet of plastic that holds the wiper motor...the little rubber flap I would like to know the purpose of is the one with the x on it.

pic from the front of the car towards the aforementioned sheet of wiper motor holding plastic. the two prongs circled are what I assume to be the thing that holds the rubber flap unto the that sheet of plastic...also, directly under those prongs are this chute that the rubber flap covers.

just in case the BACKSTORY becomes pertinent, here it is: my car has developed a rattle which comes from the exact same part of the car everytime and gradually goes away when the engine heats up...I take that sheet of wiper motor holding plastic off looking for the cause and I discover that flap. So as a test, I mummified that flap in duct tape and the rattle severely changed. it didn't go away completely but was reduced from a rattle to a clicking noise, like the perpetrator couldn't get any momentum going.

The rubber flap police will get you.

Does it block water from getting into something?

no...and as much as it flaps, it couldn't block anything. the drain is directed toward behind the engine and out the bottom of the car...so I mean the only thing the flap could block is debris escaping out of the car...

this post has been here for 18 hours and Im guessing no one has removed that rubber flap only to regret it.

I'm guessing no one has found any need to remove that rubber flap.

How'd it work out for you?

That is the crucial flap which protects the flux capasitor hiding near the wiper motor.... the plastic is used to distract one from finding it....

It is filled will plutonium you know.....
