View Full Version : Marauder Calendar - Single vs Multiple Pics Per Month

Discussion has been brought up in the other thread as to whether or not the calendar will look/be better with only the main-pic of with smaller sub pics included.

Personally I do feel that only a single main pic is going to look better. On the "flipside" it limits the number of pictures used in the calendar to 12. This makes the cut harder to meet for pictures received, and it also limits the number of folks from the community with pics of their cars in the calendar pages.

I actually know which one I prefer, but will not vote. :)

I wanted to give a chance to show previews of February and let the community vote. In the end I'll make my choice but can base that off reaction of those who want the calendar.

Keep in mind putting sub pics below on the calendar's month display section is not feasible with the setup I'm going with. It's just not an available option at this time. If it were, this poll wouldn't be here as the solution would be evident.

NOTE - these pics are preliminary previews and will change slightly in final production.

Preview Pic - Single Image

The important point is whatever choice is made it's being done without any "mean spirit" and I appreciate everyone who has contributed to the calendar - in the end I have so many awesome pics it's not funny, if any limited the main pics it was resolution/image size for 11x17 prints NOT quality of the cars or shots!

Please VOTE!

Edit: Another for Comparison:

Singe:
(Note I also adjusted the text box, this is the sort of adjustment I mentioned could still be made to these an why they are only previews :) )

I liked the idea of a thin filmstrip of pictures below a main picture.........but I say the guy who makes the calender should do what he likes....

This may be possible, it will be hard to put in with the "widescreen" setup though - mainly the 17" long length would mean lots of small images to format, that would be pretty time consuming but I will investigate it. To keep it non-obtrusive of the main pic they may end up being rather small, almost like "wallet size" prints once the calendar is printed. Also if on the bottom edge it will have to be spaced correctly to not be cut up by the wire-wound binding.

If there is a way in insert a picture with overlapping the main shot then OK. I like the clean look.

Multiples looks cool.

It looks great just the way you set it up. the Multiples looks great. There must have been a reason you did that to begin with, so go with it.

I say it depends on the main pic. If there is room to tastefully add in a sub-pic, then fine. If it may subtract from the main pic, then no-go.

Dude, you're the art director. As long as the calendar has Marauders all over it, we're gonna love it. There is no way to go wrong no matter what you do. I like both formats equally, but multiple photos on a page does allow for you to display more MMs.

I prefer the single pic. The multiple ones look a little busy to me.
Those production #'s on the Golden Gate bridge, are those total for the world?
And how do I order a calender?

And how do I order a calender?I don't think Breadfan has them set up yet, but when he does, he had stated he was using CafePress. You would have to go to their site and order directly from them. I don't want to speak for Breadfan, but that's what I believe he stated earlier.

That is correct! Once production development is done they will be available through a cafepress store for order. Once ready I'll update everyone with ordering info and links.

Thanks to all for the suggestions, it's interesting to see the opinions here!

I just finished up a calendar for my Mustang site, and deployed a mix of some single image, some double images, and some single with an insert-it makes for a nice variety. One suggestion, I did add the owner's name in lower left corner, along with year of car and police agency.
Also used Cafepress, they did a very nice job, except for some reason a few of the pics would not bleed full page--the ones I took were fine at 4 MP, but some of the others I was sent would clip 1/2" or so off..just an fyi. Other than that, very nice.

Thanks! I do plan to add user names or person names, I will need feedback to ensure I get them all correct.

Good to know about Cafepress, I'm using their template file, they indicate to use the entire template file to ensure it bleeds over the edge of the printed page - so, we'll see!

It's pretty accurate..whatever exceeds that flashing black border on the online template is what will get clipped.

Every page does not need to have multiple pics it could vary,or slide apic or 2 down in the dates,on a weekend or or weekday, just a thought.:)

Here's how I see it....

If you are just looking to make calender about Marauders in general, then do single pics for each page. If you are looking to make a Marauder calender based on the online community, then do the multiple pics pages to try to include as many people as you can.

Check out the CaliforniaSpecial.com 2007 Calendar. I like what they did on theirs. 11 unique cars and then they used one month for a collage of all the others that submitted pictures...

Solves the problem, no?
