oh, i get back from the parts store with a 2 pac of l.e.d. tail light bulbs,
i open the trunk, remove tail light (3 10?mm nuts) and i find out it take 2 wedge type bulbs per tail light, so im short by 2, i plug one in on the ouside spot, turn the hazards on and go back and look, and the led goes on and off quicker than the normal bulb, so im thinking, swap them, i put the l.e.d. on the inside spot and the normal on the outside and POW sequential turn signals.

it looks like the when the turn signal is on the tail light blinks from the middle of the car out, very nice!

very cheap, easy to do mod, took about 10 mins

thought i would share:beer:

I think you'll like the Silverstar Ultras.

Is there an advantage to the LEDs over normal bulbs? Brighter?

l.e.d.s can put out more lite, no heat, and have a hell of a long lifetime vs a normal bulb

and they fire quicker. hence the seqential effect. the faster they can fire, the sooner the driver behind you can react.

We had a problem like this at work a ford F250 utility body had a LED conversion on all four corners and the flashers were so fast they hardly blinked...Problem was that the LED's dont draw as much current as the OE bulbs do so there wasnt enough load on the flasher for it to function properly.

Yeah, I've heard similar problems on earlier Panthers. I bought a set of LEDs and resistors off of eBay. Just gotta find time to mess with them. The last time I tried LEDs, I blew 3 fuses before I gave up. :o :(

I read this regarding LED conversions - i believe they sell led bulbs that are compatible with standard flashers and/or flashers that can handle LED bulbs

I don't think we have a "flasher". I think the flashing function is controlled by the LCM.

This might sound wickedly naive....

What makes the clicky clicky noise?

I know for a fact it is in the LCM, but since it clicks it would definitley have to be a mechanical flasher or relay. Like Wig Wags on police cars.

I purchased the led taillights from superbrightleds.com
I'm Sorry to report that they didn't work out so well. The rear left side blinks okay, but right side doesn't blink at all. Any ideas?

check the bulb contacts at the bottum and throw in some dielectric grease?

vids will come soon, sorry about the wait, im still trying to find some way to slow down the flow of the standard bulb, thinking about putting a canister flasher in between the inner and outer bulbs ran in series.
