I assume that Hertz will eventually sell the Shelby GT-H Mustangs. Only 500 of the 2006 models were produced. All have automatic transmissions with traction control on all time. Do you think these will become a collector car like the original 1966 version? Any thoughts on how they will be sold? Auction or sold through Hertz Car Sales?

Maybe so but for those that did not know the car came with hypertectic pistons and crack caped rods:(

They are being auctioned off back to the dealers - and the first batch brought 60-85K!!! NOT worth it, IMHO.

This car will definitely be a collector piece. They only made 500 of them. As opposed to the 9000 GT500s due to be made this year. And unlike the GT500 which is a Ford product endorsed by Shelby, the GT-H is actually modified AT Shelby Automobiles.

Yep!
Everybody learned from the "can't sell a used rental car" back in 1966...
and NOBODY who has lots of $$$ is going to miss a second opportunity to buy one.
The guy who built my 427 FE engine has a 1966 Hertz GT350 that he bought for all of $1,800 in the mid 70s.

So true-for a lot of things, isn't it :)
Sorry guys, you can't convince me this car is worth 80-90, or even 60K for that matter, despite the low volume numbers. It is an interesting vehicle, yes, but the performance just doesn't warrant it...I think back to a lot of other limited production vehicles for which the prices just never materialized...at least not in the first 20 years or so! Now Marauders, hmmm...
Of course, as I type with the Barrett Jackson show on Speed Channel in the background, I could be wrong.. :D

I hate to show how dumb I am......but, why would a person take off a supercharger and replace it with a turbo?

The GT-H is not supercharged.

I wonder what the attraction is.

Well, like the marauders, it is a limited production car. Actually, it is not limited production and more like the trilogy cars for instance; There is a small amount of cars made with a certain special something, the GT-Hs having hooks on the hood, a scoop, and stripes etc. I saw on Motorweek that Ford plans to make a consumer version of the GT-H soon.

They're selling them with low miles but remember guys, this was a rental car for those miles.
And we all know rental cars have no soul, so they're probably sc***** scratched and beaten within a inch of their lives for that short time they've had them.
I would never, EVER consider buying a ex-rental car, no matter how rare it is/was.
