Car is making a pronounced oscillating noise from the rear - almost sounds like a bad tire, but I suspect the axles have had enough. 30K on an early 03 build. I just recently replaced the diff fluid with Mobil I 75W/90 + Ford friction modifier. I know about the updated 140 recommendation, but it won't make any difference now. I saved a sample of the old fluid and may send it out for analysis. Hassett Ford on Long Island, NY has thus far been pretty good with warranty and TSB issues. We will bring the car in sometime soon.

Mitch - Do you have the extended warranty? Most 03's are out of the 3yr/36 K warranty.

Hi Mitch:
My Marauder was built in June of 2002......... @ 30k the original owner replaced the axles(Oasis thx to RoyLPita), and I have heard this from a few other owners of Marauders built in this time period.

Just got 4.10's in lat week with Scott Levine the Master Tech at Team Toyland, and he said upon inspection, the replacement axles looked fine, just had to put some new bearings in with the gears.

It seems the replacement 28's hold up much better. I asked about the need to upgrade these, and he said "no need until a serious bump in power".

Best regards,

I just replaced both rear axles on my '03 Marauder with 44,000 miles. One had worn a grove about 1/32 " deep, the other had just started to show wear on the axle. For about 1000 miles I had a very fine vibration which I thought was the rear tires as they are getting down to the wear bars.

Now with axles/bearing replace there is no vibration.

Good thing I had purchased an extended warranty. I purchased the car with 17,000 miles on it. Ford replaced both rear shocks, one front strut and two power window motors. The extended warranty has replaced one more power window moter, one rear caliper (I pd for the other since it was still Ok) and now both rear axles and wheel bearings.10590

dealer says not to change gears, any suggestionsYes...find another dealer. Changing to 4.10s is one of the the best mods you can do to this car.
