MERCMAN

Well, I had my "Black Beauty" for a week, when I noticied an advertisement for a local car show. Hmmm I sez.. WHAT IF???
Yep, I entered it, BIG surprise(NOT) I was the only Marauder there. When I pulled up to register, an offical looked at it and said,, not very "customized", just wheels and and exhaust tips,, but come on in anyway(He was clueless). Now the show was at the local G.M.(BLEAH) dealership, so I took my MM to my L/M dealer and he was nice enough to put it through the cleaning bay and shine it up for the show at no charge. He and I both agreed that it would be great for all those G.M. geeks to see what a REAL
modern muscle car looks like. Well, needless to say my MM got more than a few looks that day. People stuck their heads under the hood,, in the windows, and crawled underneath and just generally gawked at it.
I have to admit, I was more than a little proud of my MM, a feeling I have not had in a LONG time. There were only 5 mercs in the whole show(of a total of over 200 entries) and mine was the newest Sad to say, this was strictly a car "show", not a competition, so except for a dash plaque, no prizes. But I was the big winner, I got to show off my pride and joy, educate some people on the beauty and craftmanship of the MM. and fulfill a lifetime dream of having a vehicle cool enough to enter in a car show.
I will post a pic of it later when I get home.
Now for a bit of personal history. I will be 49 this year, and the MM is the very first new car I have purchased. I have owned a lot of cars in my life, all makes, but this car is the best, even love this one more than my '69 Z/28(and that is saying something)
Is it a mid-life crises, my purchasing this "hot-rod"? I think it is more of a reward for all the years of hard work, raising children, marriage(and divorce) and for all the mediocre pieces of iron coming out of Detroit.
Ok, enough of this rambling, but let me say in closing, how much I love this site,, thanks to whoever is responsible for its upkeep.
