View Full Version : Mis-Reading UltraLite-II Boost Gauge

I got 2 ultra-lite II gauges for Christmas from my family and installed them yesterday.

I have the short-sweep electric oil-pressure gauge and it's nice to have a "real" oil pressure gauge now.

I also got a full-sweep mechanical boost/vac gauge. I wanted a mechanical guage since I already had everything plumbed for it. So hookup was pretty easy.

However once hooked up the readings don't appear to be accurate.

On idle it sits at 30vac, actually I think it would sit lower it may be hitting the bottom peg...

I made sure the car was running good, and took a test drive. Did a WOT run and maxed out at 6psi. My old gauge (Ultra-lite I mechanical) would read close to 10psi.

So something is not right with this gauge. The plumbing should be fine. I could hookup the old one to verify.

Are these gauges adjustable? Did I get a bad gauge? Anyone do the same conversion, and if so, what are you readings with the stock Trilogy kit?

Thanks!

What does the gauge read when just referenced to atmosphere?

If it reads 30" Hg at idle, it's defective. It should be more like 20" Hg.

Yep, my original read 20". I'm pretty sure it's defective...guess I'll call AutoMeter.

With key off, and new out of the box, it read just below 0...

Does it read 0 with the key on and motor off? The gauge might not be properly calibrated to the sensor.

Yes does read 0 when off, will verify again tommorrow.

I'm trying to keep my car stock as possible...Even down to the gauges...I've done some small things...Nothing major...I still have the stock parts on the side....Don't worry bout the gauges:rolleyes:

Yes for sure, look pretty stock during the day but awesome backlighting at night

Welcome to the collective. Resistance to modding is futile. You will be assimilated.
