Here is what Steve and Edwin having been working on for the last two days, Tom brought us his 03 Cobra conversion installed in his 03 Marauder, he had a very tall list, to start with he wanted a 31 spline conversion, and so we ordered up an 8.8 HD truck carrier and a set of 31 spline axial’s. He also wanted his new set of 13” Willwood rotors and twin piston calipers installed in the rear, they also upgraded his older kinsler to the new Turbo blue filter. He also was concerned that his transmission was not right, so after a test drive we sat down and came up with a plan, and started on the car, we removed the old 28 spline carrier and axials which both were badly pitted Tom has a 03 A, they next removed the transmission, to be torn down and inspected, with the trans out they installed a rear cooling kit, the 03 Cobra has one cooling tube in the passenger head so we just had to install one on the drivers head.

<FONT face="Times New Roman"><FONT size=3>Years ago we found the best way to set up the Ford 8.8 rear end is to invest in the Rotuda tool, this takes all the guess work out of setting the 8.8 up, as shown in the picture, the pinion depth is determined by a shim that is place on the pinion gear, and the pinion bearing is pressed on top of it, with the Rotunda tool after installing new pinion bearing races you place the inner and outer pinion bearings on a threaded rod that has a stop located inside the housing then you bolt a tube in the carrier cavity and torque the caps you rotate this stop up behind the tube and insert the correct shim till it just drags, then this shim is place on the new pinion gear and the bearing is installed on top of that, Tom is now running 3:27 gear this car should have a un godly top end.
