View Full Version : In-dash XM?
Who makes the best XM-ready stereo to replace the factory unit? I don't need a lot of whiz-bang gadgetry, just XM and a great sound.

Alpine's HU's are great been using them in many vehicles for years, almost all companies HU's now are SAT ready you just buy a box that goes with it for either Sirius or XM.

My only gripe with an indash unit is you can't use the XM reciever any where else. My reciever goes from my car to my office back to my car and then to my garage so I can get the most out of my subscription. I use it about 9 to 12 hours a day. I feel I'm getting my money's worth.

Not sure what is available today, but in '04 I bought an Alpine XM in dash the first week I had the car. The stereo shop also installed a box so that I can control the radio from the steering wheel controls. Works great!

If you want the facory head,
terk makes a direct kit for the MM. If you want to move on to better sound over all, scrap the factory head, speakers and sub. More info, pm your contact info.

I am and have been a Pioneer fan for years. Most any unit with a P in the model number can control a hideaway XM box.
For the money, you may want to consider a double din nav system. Whiz-bang, I know, but very useful.

personally i am a Kenwood/Sirius fan.
I dont need to take my sirius unit out of the car to listen at work, I listen online.
really, if you just want XM, there is no reason to take your stock HU out at all. Just get an FM modulated system. Its not the BEST sound you can get, but it certainly is acceptable.
