My new 31 Spline Detroit TrueTrac is in for the 8.8 rear in the Marauder...
With my new engine mods etc... I found it to be prudent to change both to the 31 spline axles & the 31 Spline Detroit TrueTrac.
It looks really nice.... I can't wait to put all these new goodies in and go run the new improved marauder...
...but anyway here are some *PIX*

Looks good! I have a question though, may sound stupid but eh. Don't we have 28 spline stock? I'm assuming upgrading to 31 spline is stronger?

yes we do have 31 spline stock...
I thought I mentioned above that due to increase in power levels above 600RWHP I now feel the need to upgrade to 31 Spline Axles...
Not doing so would be foolish...
To answe other question I'll have to dig through receipts and look up apporx. cost.... for TrueTrac and axles... (both are need for 31 spline conv.)

I see your going with the auburn pro...
I popular choice and works well too...
I decided to go with the TrueTrac to avoid dealing with the cone clutches on the auburn.... It's my understanding that they can be annoying....
...but really good at the drags....
I however intend to daily and run it at the track (pocono international raceway) once or twice a year.... and run she does....
I have also opted to retain stock gear ratio for better track performance since I do not drag race.....

Ya mine was supercharged with a Vortec and 10# boost before that upgrade to 31 spline... without any problems...
Im now rebuilding a stout short block... porting etc the heads and up the supercharger to a T-trim and 16#boost...
Hence estimated 600+RWHP
and therefore 31 splines and alot of other work,.....LOL

Speaking of the 31 spline setup... do you have any idea when the moser Axles will arrive? When they do I'll get some shoots of those....of course...

I second the motion. Tom and I both have the 31 spline axles and the TrueTrac. No problems at all.......no noise at all!

Well I will soon be the 4th to add praise to the motion for TrueTrac and Moser Axles in a 31 spline setup....

Supposedly it is quieter and you can rebuild it. If a gear to gear one breaks (it does not happen often) it usually is not rebuildable but pretty impressive when it goes!!!!

Is the TrueTrac the equivalent of the 'Torsen' differential??
I really like the Torsen style differential...seems to be the 'best of all worlds', but I've heard that it does not stand up well to drag racing duty...especially with a 4400 lb car.
Is the Detroit TrueTrac tougher?

Joe, based on my research before I put one in my car (w/31 Spline Mosers), according to Detroit/Eaton the TrueTrac it is suppose to be the toughest street/strip diff out there. No clutches all steel. One of the reasons that Eaton bought out Detroit Locker. The NMCA events is sponsored by Detroit TrueTrac. Also, JB has one in Trilogy One and he has not had any problems running in the mid-10's with his race car. I love it, it is quiet and works great. I would highly recommend one.

Joe, the TrueTrac Torsen diff was beefed up a few years back with additional housing end bolts. Look at the pics in the first post, used to only be four there. The guys with slicks, transbrakes and 5000 rpm drops could tear the old ones up. I don't think you could put that much shock to the diff on a Marauder. The improved design should hold up well even at the track. You'll probably snap an axle first.

Ya I do not have mine installed yet but..... From all my research prior to purchase I have heard and found this unit to be outstanding.....
...and in the 31 spline setup plus the addition of the rear bolts it it obviously far stronger than the stock unit....
