And lemme tell ya...
You people who drive around on drag radials 24/7 are nuts.

Im getting it tuned Saturday and am hoping for the best.

Not to start a war, but as the car drives right now, my Vortech pulled harder.

Just my .02.

If your really interested in not starting a war and instead want to provide info, you might add a short list of what each car had/has mod wise. I believe the 'New Beast' has your relocated IAT? With original tuning for IAT at the MAF? So it reasons it would see higher temps and pull timing?

Just trying to make sure I understand the configurations you mentioned in your post as it was a bit vague.

I'll be interested in seeing your dyno/tune results.

I drove 15K miles w/ the DR and they are like jelly roll donuts.

In the turns I drove the car like a little ole church Lady going to Sunday Mass.:D

I did not plan on driving them 15K, several unplanned things took place.

Please keep us posted on the Dyno results.

The car did put down some good 1/4 mile times.

Funny at the low end I though the roots would pull harder.

Zack, the car you are talking about is BillyG's old car correct? Isn't modded out and has 4.56 gears?

Zack

Kooks on both, 3000 stall on both, 10lbs on the Vortech, 9.5 on the Trilogy.
4:10-Vortech 4:56-Trilogy

A tune can do wonders for a car, but the file I created for it now makes it run really good.
It has 17 degrees of timing in it. no detonation.

What is the A/F with the 17 degrees of timing? You also are in really cool weather.

Dont know the A/F. I do know I changed the MAF transfer function to command A lot of fuel at high rpm's to be safe.

17 degrees will be no problem in any weather where the IAT is.

I also installed a Focus pump and turrned the BAP to 40 from 10.

You are right I was vague.
The file I created with Pro Racers takes into account all of the changes Ive made to the car.
I guarantee you there is no timimg being pulled.

Im also on 35 degree roads with drag radials and the tires just get blown away.
Ill make another comparison when it warms up and traction is better.

Funny at the low end I though the roots would pull harder. I've driven TMAC1337's Procharger Marauder and it pull's really hard at the low end too. Greggash's Vortech Marauder also Pull's hard at the low end. I was impressed with both. I guess it depends on the car, the mods and who is doing the tuning.

Why did you off your Vortech Marauder anyway?

Regarless, Drag radials suck when temps are consistantly below 50*. Dam things are like driving on a wet road!

Congrats on getting the car going again. I also look forward to the results. Especially after all the IAT crap. I hope there is benefit in moving it.

So you are saying you do not have a good comparison because...no traction...so is your first post a valid post on your new car not pulling as hard...also you have not had it dyno tuned since you changed some stuff?...willie

Based on the Time slip page 12.0 vs 11.6 and 1.65 vs 1.60 there is nothing new here.

I was really tired of belt issues an wanted a Kenne Bell.
Come to find out after it was sold, the belt tensioner was the problem.
I had the aluminum tensioner which can flex at high rpm's and boost, thus causing the belt to throw on occasion.
The KB has the good, all steel tensioner on it.
Someday soon I will dust it off and pray for a good outcome with that project.

I can't even give my car enough pedal, OD on or off, or the tires will spin up and burn. Even will do this when the car is moving, and I've learned to immediately take my foot off the gas or the car will lose control.

Zack, thanks for dispelling a few myths around here! Myths that led to a few of us being ostracized and backed into a constant rebuttle corner because some people have agendas...... Just keep to the facts, they will speak for themselves. When people can't attack the facts, they will attack you personally....just ignore them.

Neither Procharger guys, nor Vortech guys, have been attack dogs around here, just defensive linebackers! If I was going to spend the money again, I would take a Procharger or the Vortech air to air.....without hesitation!

I dropped to 3.27 gears and lowered the stall to use the 444rwt I have at 2000rpm now it's easyer to controll the wheel spin and the launch will make your eyes chineese.

Who's tuning it? Where and when? I'd like to see this place and meet the tuner to inquire about mine since I'm close to getting the $$ for it.

All the new Trilogy set ups will have the IAT re-located I'm told, but not necessarily to the same spot Zack picked.
The benefit of the relocation is moot at this point.

Moot point? After all that crap? I think not. I am interested in what the temps under the blower are, what timing is compared to "the other way", etc...

In theroy, you take away some cushion in the program, but have a more acurate tune. That should equal more HP.

Please, Zack said he was going to reinvent the wheel. And he had a good point too. I just want to see the gains after all this thats all.

Seems it's been decided it is a benefit. What isn't known, yes, is actual numbers.
Zack's numbers may be different since his IAT re-location spot is different, so that will be interesting, maybe.

After some spirited driving I have come to the conclusion the Torque converter is bad. When you mash the gas it spools up then SLAMS into gear.
Its not the trans. I knew I should have sent the converter in for a tune up, just didnt want to think it could be bad after just 50k.
But if you have seen all of the bad things I have seen, (on this car)I guess it isnt hard to comprehend.

It very well could be and you are the 2nd to think its the trans.
Im taking it over to the builder tonight for an eval.
I have no luck in my endeavours.

Do you still feel that the engine disassembly diagnosis of the car being "babied" is correct?

I can't speak for whether or not it was babied, but that was the worst looking carboned up set of pistons I've seen in a long time. I can only compare them to my motor that grenaded, in that now that I've had the time to tear it down, my pistons (the 5 that were left) were clean enough on top to read the engravings on the tops. Yes, and I didn't baby that motor either.

Maybe the gas? (I use 93 ethanol)
Maybe the oil? (I use 5-20 Mobil1 and changed it about every 6000)

Dunno...

Well John, if you're going by the posted pics Like I am, I have to tell you that if that's the cae, you must not have seen a lot of pistons in your day, because I've seen pistons a lot worse than that when it comes to carbon build up. And BTW, how clean do you expect pistons to be after 55,000 miles? I mean, they're not going to be clean at all regardless of how good the air/ful mixtire is. This is after all, an internal combustion engine we're talking about here. Is it not? And don't forget to factor in the part about it having been supercharged for 44,000 miles, and the fact that supercharged engines are always run on the rich side to prevent pinging. ALWAYS. And that A/F ratio being on the rich side will cause some extra carbon. So what is the big deal??? jeesh!!!!

And BTW, I dunno what this individual expected for $11,000 for a 3.5 year old car that had $40,000 into it! Gee!! What's with all the comments??? Can we just let the deal rest?

TooManyFords
01-04-2007, 02:10 PM
You're correct Billy, I should have compared them to my 5 pistons with 50,000 miles and left off the "in a long time". And since we're comparing them now, I'll snap a couple pictures for comparison. We can all relax and wait for them.

And will you freaking relax? Dude, let the car go. Once you sign a pink over, walk away. I've never said a bad word about you and if you read my statements above, I still haven't. Repeat after me: IT'S JUST A CAR.

You're thinking of Jack Nickolson...

Jack Nicklaus said, “I never hit a shot, not even in practice, without having a very sharp, in-focus picture of it in my head. First I see the ball where I want it to finish, nice and white and sitting up high on the bright green grass. Then the scene quickly changes, and I see the ball going there: its path, trajectory, and shape, even its behavior on landing. Then there is a sort of fade-out, and the next scene shows me making the kind of swing that will turn the previous images into reality.”
