I sure thought I did, but after I replaced this:

Car drives straight as an arrow!

After inspection of my latest car, i found that:
- the front bumper is all sc***** up underneath
- Crossmember is sc*****
- Oil pan was dented
- Exhaust was dented in 3 places
- Rear bumper mounts on the passenger side as well as the rear mounts were broken and/ or missing
- Rear bumper is cracked in more than 1 spot
- Rocker panel trim is cracked badly
- Rocker panel itself is dented badly
- Under the trunk has a huge dent
- Control arm is bent.

When I go to sell this car on Ebay, my honesty about all this might very well leave me the permanent owner of this car. :censor: :censor:

Well Zack, I don't see anything here that can not be fixed? Car was a every day drive, yes I agree that is a few dents underneath, my buddy at the bodyshop gets on my azz about the scrapes under my front bumper all the time, hell I run up when they put mine up on the lift:run:

No go for the Metco's.

Imangine what that would have looked like if the car wasn't 'babied'.

When you bought it didn't you look underneath at all? Stuff sounding that major should be easy to see during the "about-to-buy" check of the car.

Maybe it's just me but there is a reason I don't wear dress clothes to buy a used car, never hurts to lay of the pavement and take a look, none of that is hidden, it's just hard to see standing up...

That car sounds like it was one heck of a road warrior... :burnout:

I bought the car sight unseen and traveled 900 miles to pick it up.
All i ask If i could go back in time is an honest rendition of what I was buying.
I got nothing close.
Had I got the real scoop, i might have reconsidered the purchase.

Well, I don't know the details of the transaction, that's between you and the seller of course. Still after a 900mile trip my eyes would take an additional 6foot trip south to peer underneath, then walk around and kick a tire or two.

I know buying a car long distance is tough but you have options until you take the keys, but again, I don't know the details of the transaction and don't think that's necessary here.

Best of luck with the car, if you got a good price on the buy and sell it for a good price it'll still make one mean street machine for someone and sell well I bet.

Factor in plane fare and a deposit check for $1000 that was already cashed and god knows where, 900 miles from home on a Saturday afternoon and I think I made the right decision.

While I agree with that, these days some places have passed laws that put the onus on the seller for disclosure, and unfortunately extending that to private sellers.

Obviously, through much tribulation and gnashing of teeth, Zack has put this behind and let it go. Leave it. He's obviously re-making his online reputation. Don't steer it amuck for him!

Like I said when the last train got derailed... Let's focus. I'm learning something, here.

Well even with a 10min or 900mile trip you still have final say regarding handing over the check. If you find it's not what you expected you have to make that choice, as it sounds you did. Yes there is much higher risk in long-distance car buying, that's why many choose to not do it. In the end you're taking a risk if you don't inspect the car before handing over the check. But if you did that, and still bought the car, no issue it would seem, just some extra wrenching that had to be done on the car once the engine knock was fixed.

Zack
01-04-2007, 01:13 PM
Back on track, this was the passenger's side arm. Caused the car to pull to the right something fierce.
The wheel had to be held about 3 inches toward the left to go straight.

Dragcity

Zack, That makes sense. Pulling to the side in the rear will inevitably have an effect on the way the car points. Could be made up in front alignment, I guess. But not the desired approach.

I see how this stresses the importance of appropriate control arms out back.

Stamped steel control arms, SHEESH!

I meant no flames or blames in what I posted, nor any intent to 'steer' Just a statement.
On sales of cars I still think it's all up to the buyer.

have done that on pickups. the wheels don't line up any more. We called it dog trackin. All 4 are parallel, but the body appears to go down the road crooked.

So was the bent control arm the result of an impact, or 400+hp twisting on the axle?

Had I got the real scoop, i might have reconsidered the purchase.Zack, you continue to throw cheap shots at me, but only over the INTERNET. And that's why you're a punk. You were in a big hurry to buy the car, and I tried to slow you down. Yes, I wanted to sell the car to you, but I offered to bring you to my brother's house to put it up on his lift so that you could get an compromised look at it, but you refused.

I told you that I had to get the car taken away on a flatbed at one time because of a mishap I had with it two winters ago, and you didn't seem concerned. And that was undoubtedly because of the fantastic price you got on the car. But now you're acting like a whiney little girl over the net, and trying to come across like you're a victim. You're a weasel and I'll tell you that to your face too. You're bringing this whole board downhill with your lack of respect for many people here including myself. And you continue your antics, because you're Zack, and for whatever reason, you can get away with it. You're a weasel, and I fully agree with Jerry Barnes that you'll never change. You even cross a major vendor on here many times, and you get away with it. If I, or just about anyone else on here did that, we would be gone for good. What is wrong with this picture????

I guess the only thing I don't understand is why this is an issue now...I mean if you had problems of hearing "oh I forgot to mention" when you were buying it and took a look, then why buy it?

Sure it'd cost a flight but if it wasn't what you were expecting you should've walked away.

Again I don't know the details of the transaction nor do I really want to, it's private business, but I guess I feel you still had a choice when you were looking at it in person, you indicate you weren't getting a good comfort feel that should've set off the alarms and flags and had you reconsidering on the spot.

I'm not trying to tell you what to do though, really I suppose I'm just stating an opinion, I'm a very picky car buyer I guess, just want to know that I know what I'm driving off with vs what I laid down for it cash-wise.

Where'd you find the 4th one? If this car isn't Billys, was it S/Ced? If not any idea about the control arm? How many miles on it?
