View Full Version : How well will a used blower work?

I really want a blower real bad before summer starts, but I don't think I can afford a new one. I actually found a used one on ebay a few months back for like $2,500. My main concern is will it all work? By work I mean like the computer settings and all. I'm just guessing that if I bought a used blower I would have to buy something from the company that makes it to change the computer settings.
As far as the blower and parts go, I don't think thats much to worry about is it?

Dom, is this "used blower" a complete kit and was it designed specifically for a Marauder? If not, then you may be buying a major headache.
What kind of blower? How long was it used? Why was it removed?
An old boss of mine had a card on his wall that said something like: "The sweetness of a good price is forgotten in the bitterness of a bad deal."

You can easily spend 2/3 the cost of a new blower having it rebuilt. I had to have my Eaton M90 rebuilt because of bearing failure by Magnuson a year ago. If it's a Vortech or Paxton, expect to send them off for a refreshed set of seals and bearings.

I was close...
The actual quote is "The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten."
Thanks, Rich...

MH,
Bank the 2500. Save another 1500. Buy Greggash's 500 gift cert (in classifieds) for FIT for $250.
That's 4500. Then, call Greg at FIT!!!
Call any one of the S/C vendors. They are all good guys. See if they'll do a layaway. Send the 2500. Make payments. Have a reliable SC!
Don't risk your car or your pocketbook. I have been involved with a used S/C install. It ended up costing the owner more than a new kit to get the used one right. Save up and do it right!

I had a discussion about the L blower's and everyone here gave me good advice. Don't waste your time and money. Just save and get one made for the car. I'm saving now and hope to have cash by Spring time.

It was a procharger I believe and this was months ago. Yes I would make sure it's for the Marauder and not risk cutting and pasting it.
