Don't have my manual handy, but I am curious as to when my '04 should have or have had fliud changes for the 1. trans, 2. rear end, 3. cooling system?
I have logged 27.7 k original owner miles thus far using it as my reliable daily driver, and would like to keep it reliable.
Thanks

I'm relying on my memory and I think:
1. Trans....30K miles....Drop pan and change filter.....I do mine every 15K miles
2. Rear End.....Used to be never but now I think 100K miles....I do mine every 50K miles
3. Coolant flush....Every 2 years??
May be wrong but more frequently won't hurt a thing!!

I agree regular changes will not hurt. If you drive short trips then all the more reason. My program is a little overkill but I don't like being stuck:)

IIRC, the factory coolant fill is rated for 100K miles, if you have the yellow G-05 coolant. Don't recall
what the flush and change interval was for the green coolant, 'cause mine's got the G-05. After the first
change, it's then every 50K thereafter. To preserve coolant life, always do any topping off with a 50%
premix of G-05 coolant and distilled water.
That said, I don't think I'll leave mine in past 50K anyway. Coolant's cheap.

I read a Ford TSB that states the Gold coolant is good for 5 years/100k. After that, it is good for 3/50k because of water quality issues.

Thanks for the clarification. I'd wondered why the subsequent intervals were shorter. Seems they coulda
just specified two intervals depending on whether one uses distilled water. I always do. But like I said,
coolant's cheap...
Hi guys. My Marauder came with the green coolant and I believe I read where it should be changed every 3 years. So at the 3 year mark, I had it done at the dealership just before the factory warranty was up.
Next year my MM will be 6 years old and I would like to tackle it myself.
2 questions:
Q1) - For those of you whose MM uses the green coolant, what brand are you using? Contrary to one of our members, AutoZone does not stock the original Motorcraft coolant.
Q2) - It's one thing to drain the radiator, but how do you drain what's in the block?

A1) - Use whatever brand meets Ford spec ESE-M97B44-A (green) or WSS-M97B51-A1 (gold)
A2) - Get the system power flushed.
